With my iTunes library, every single song MUST have artwork. If it doesn’t, I either make artwork for it or hunt it down online. Why? Because it looks neat and there’s a sense of accomplishment to it.
I try and do the same for my address book too (on my iPhone.) When I take a person’s details, I normally ask for a phone number, name, and if possible their website (Twitter, Facebook, or personal) and their home address. At a stretch, I’ll ask for a photo too… But most people don’t like having their photos taken on the spot.
This is where AddressBook Sync comes in. It’s a desktop app which requires you to log into your Facebook account and cross-matches your current address book with your Facebook friends list. It then shows you a list of all the potential matches, and shows you the photo you currently have stored for them, and their new Facebook default.
Another week, another interview. I’m back with some more interviewy goodness.
This Week in iPhone has done a podcast with your favourite iPhone developers. They talk about the latest iPhone news, as you’d expect and then it goes on to interview the guests. Including a question on whether its fun to have loads of people bugging for a release, definitely worth the listen
Thanks again bobby681!

OpenAppMkt is a 3rd party app store like Cydia, but since it is home only to applications written in HTML, it doesn’t require you to be jailbroken. There are both free and paid apps available, and it seems very developer friendly. HTML can be used to create powerful web apps that are almost indistinguishable from their Objective-C counterparts, and has long been used as a way to circumvent Apple’s approval process.
OpenAppMkt was just opened today, but it already shows a lot of potential. To install it, just hit the source on your iDevice and tap “Add to Home”.
If you’re using a carrier unlock like ultrasn0w on your iPhone, stay away from the iOS 4.1 betas, as they patch the exploit used to unlock it. (All generations of iPhones included.)
confirmed , the exploit used for ultrasn0w0.93 has been completely dismissed from 05.14.01
, 3g & 3gs unlockers NEVER go past 4.0.1
And don’t go nagging the Dev-Team either, I’m sure they are working on it!

Sprint’s new 3G Peel case for the iPod Touch probably has many of you wondering how much you could save by switching to a data only plan and using Skype Mobile. Here’s a quick rundown of potential plans based on what Sprint currently has available, and how much you could get out of them.
Mobile Broadband Connection Plan – 3G
Sprint has just one data only plan at the moment, which is capped at 5GB a month. Thanks to testing done by Ars Technica, we know that a 5 minute Skype-to-Skype call over 3g uses around 3.3 MB of bandwidth. This equates to 125 hours of talk time (or 7500 minutes) on this plan.
What does this translate to? If you have a 200MB data limit (as you might if you’re on the $15 data plan from AT&T), you can make five hours worth of Skype calls—assuming you’re not transmitting any other data for other purposes. If you’re on a 2GB monthly limit, you can make just under 52 hours’ worth of Skype calls. If you want to actually do other things on your phone, though, you’ll have to adjust your usage. (If you typically use 550MB of data in a month doing other things, for example, you can make just under 37 hours’ worth of Skype calls on a 2GB monthly limit.)
Read on past the break for more number crunching.
Remember the Yosion Apple Peel case from yesterday? It seems that Sprint has the same idea, and is planning to release a 3G case for the iPod Touch. (This wouldn’t be the first time they stuck it to Apple and AT&T either.)
It’s unknown what the initial or monthly cost will be, but it would need to be dirt cheap to keep it competitive. It would also be nice if you could just buy a data plan and only use Skype to make calls, making it even less expensive.
Stay tuned for more updates.

If you confused about which jailbreak to use for your specific device, then don’t worry – Jailbreak Matrix has got you covered. It’s been around for a few months so I’m sure many of you already know about it, but this can be a vital tool for new users.
It has a spreadsheet interface that tells you which of the many jailbreaking utilities to use, with a corresponding tutorial if you’re a bit lost.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Apple is looking into the less-than-stellar performance of their lastest mobile operating system on the iPhone 3G.
Apple is investigating reports that the latest iPhone operating system causes problems for users of the iPhone 3G, after a series of complaints on Apple support forums and technology blogs. Apple is aware of the reports and is looking into the matter, a spokeswoman told Digits.
Are any Touch Fans experiencing this problem, has the 4.1 beta helped? Let us know in the comments.

The Street is reporting that in addition to the color-opacity problem, the white iPhone 4 is also suffering from light leakage, causing light from the LCD to glow around the back and edges of the device. It’s likely that this problem has been known to Apple, and part of the initial delay. (And won’t result in a further delay.)
Apparently, the back light from the iPhone display screen is leaking out around the edges of the glass and seeping through the back of the white phone, according to a person familiar with the manufacturing process.
Apparently, making white products is nothing like riding a bicycle.
Engadget has found an interesting accessory from a Chinese company called Yosion that turns your iPod Touch into the phone it has always wanted to be.
Powered by an Infineon baseband chip, this adapter not only offers voice calling and text messaging (presumably requiring a jailbroken iPod touch for the apps; GPRS not possible yet), but it also doubles up as an 800mAh battery and provides 4.5 hours of call time or 120 hours of standby juice.
It’s unknown whether or not it will ever be available stateside, but it could potentially allow users to buy cheaper cell plans without a two year contract or carrier lock-in. Hit the source for a video of it in action.
Update: I dug around a little, and found the Yosion forums, which have a bit of chatter about the accessory if you’re looking for more info. (Google translate is a must-have, unless you speak Chinese.)
