Yes I do Hun. But I use Ubuntu on my Laptop + Vista.
Parm289 04-24-2008, 06:30 PM Is this release really worth it? Except for the new version of GNOME, none of those features really excite me.

AWESOME, What wireless card do you have? Is it Broadcom?
latinoheat69 04-24-2008, 06:49 PM i have the intel 3945 or something and it's been supported since gutsy..though i made it work with the remastered iso from dell for the 1420 (my laptop model)
drkassassin 04-24-2008, 06:56 PM i just want to clarify...mount this...run with wubi and it will work? correct?
Already running Kubuntu 8.04 with KDE 4 desktop. I like it so far.
simonrichards150 04-24-2008, 07:00 PM AWESOME, What wireless card do you have? Is it Broadcom?
Its an Atheros one, but its a funny one, it needs a newer kernel than the last ubuntu distro had to function lol. Fortunately 8.04 has the right kernel

Make sure you burn the CD/DVD. It still needs packages and such from the CD/DVD itself.

Make sure you select the "Install Inside Windows" Option!!!
And Yes, it SHOULD support your touch screen, since its a new operating system and top of the line Linux.
After it is done installing in Windows, it'll restart. Keep the disc in and when the Windows Boot Loader shows up, select Ubuntu.
andrew! 04-25-2008, 05:33 AM dont you have to partion your hard drive to install it? i thought it would just erase everything if you installed without partion...
organerito 04-25-2008, 05:57 AM Is this release really worth it? Except for the new version of GNOME, none of those features really excite me.
Yes, it is better than 7.10. It is more stable. There are not problems with the graphic cards. However, I liked better the former audio system. Pulse is not that good.
Parm289 04-25-2008, 07:55 AM Eh, i think these changes are too subtle to merit such a big release. I guess the LTS part of it made the release pretty big. Still, i love ubuntu and think its a great os. Ill be trying this sometime in the futute.
dimdig23 04-25-2008, 06:35 PM i really want to put this on, had ubuntu on my last laptop, it broke, and i want a older computer to install it on and mess with.
i think im gonna do it sometime.
Tman47 04-25-2008, 06:39 PM sorry but what does this do.
Teslanaut 04-25-2008, 06:41 PM sorry but what does this do.

drkassassin 04-25-2008, 09:46 PM ok well...wubi was a failure...im thinking about doing it manually...any guide on setting up the bootloader for windows and proper partitioning for linux?

If you do it the Manual way, it'll be the Grub loader, not Windows boot loader. As far as uninstalling goes, that is a bit trickier.
micaheljcaboose 04-25-2008, 09:51 PM Do you think it will have fixed the problem where even if I installed it, it would be in live CD mode?

Hiratai 04-25-2008, 10:24 PM Should I tri-boot my Mac with this?
Teslanaut 04-25-2008, 10:26 PM Should I tri-boot my Mac with this?
You can, you'd probably be using the Boot Loader on the Windows Side or you can use rEFIt. I'd go with the GRUB. Or Vista boot loader.

Ps did you say yes that you had the hardy heron wallpaper
Cyanidepoison 04-26-2008, 06:52 PM I'd suggest waiting a few weeks before you try and install 8.04. Canonical is getting killed right now, along with all the mirrors. Don't make it any more of a burden on them, unless you're using a torrent.
