I'll try, they might let you test them in the Apple Store, like they do in the Bose shop I went to.
But if they don't do that, then I won't review them, since they're £55(I think) in the UK. I don't want to spend £55 on something that might not be that good. I would rather spend £55 on some better make, (Bose, Shure, B&O etc...)

But you're American :( $70 for you should be £35 for us by common sense. £1 = $2, etc.
But we have to pay £55 for them...

Hmmm I'd go with the FMJ from skullcandy...
Think FMJ audio superiority with a new tightly-wrapped, coiled metal cable, plus the addition of a sleek in-line mic. That's right, Skullcandy's iPhone FMJ lets you and your iPhone rock together AND talk together.
* 11mm speaker
* Frequency range: 16 Hz – 20K Hz
* Impedance: 16 ohms
* Max input power: 500mW
* Cable type: Aluminum foil
* Cable length: 1.1 M
* Plug type: 3.5mm gold plated
Way better if you ask me then the ones from Apple..

FMJ's suck, bought them when they were on sale and they were bad. Overpowering muddy bass, mids and treble had no clarity.
Thought burning them in would help but nope.. now sitting in my drawer.
For $80 you're better off with some Denon C551's or sony MDR-EX90LP, or even something from the sennheiser line.
From what I see the new in-ears from apple will probably sound the same as their crap ones they sold before..just paying for the new features imo.

in all honesty, i think apple headphones aren't the greatest quality headphones (even an employee said that). And they're overpriced. I've been through 4 ipods and have always gotten 3rd party headphones. So far the best ones I've gotten were Bass Freq from V-moda. They're like only 30 bucks and the bass on it is amazing.
bizzyb0t
10-16-2008, 01:00 AM
If you're talking about sound quality, then Skullcandy is out of the question. Those all suck as far as sound. Yeah, they look cool if you're 12 years old but they are just "pretty-looking" crappy headphones. Even Apple's headphones sound better.
Bose headphones are another brand that get much undeserved hype. What's sad is that for the prices of Bose headphones you're basically getting ripped off. I've heard Sony and even KOSS headphones that sound way better at a fraction of the price.
Price doesn't always equal quality as anyone who has owned a pair of JWIN headphones will tell you. Almost all of their headphones cost like $20 and not a single one goes over like $50 but the sound quality is awesome. I've got a pair of JWIN JH-P370 headphones that sound just as good or better than any other headphone that I have. I have a pair of Sennheiser CX500 headphones that also fricken rock but I paid almost $80 for those. On the other hand I have an old pair of the Radio Shack PRO35A (aka KOSS KTXPRO1) Titanium headphones (the old ones that were made with metal and not all plastic) and they sound great as well. There newer ones sound great too but they're built really cheaply.
I've been buying and using headphones for more than 20 years and I can tell you that if you buy Bose, you're paying too much. Shure is okay but only the higher end models sound good. Sometimes though, it doesn't have to be expensive to sound good. But the cheap Skullcandy headphones look cool/pretty but as far as sound quality and the guts are concerned they suck. Every Skullcandy headphone I've tried sounds suspiciously like similar pairs from Sentry Industries (http://www.sentryindustries.com/category/headphones/). Don't be fooled by the hype!
Yep, you pay for the name of bose/apple.
There are a lot of great 100$ headphones.
UE super.fi3 , westone um1 and some more that I've just read about, but never tried myself acctualy so I don´t want to list them.

Ok, the in ear headphones that cost $40/£25 are absolutely crap. The build quality is terrible!
You actually pay for what you get with major makes. They put the money into technology other makes don't have
Shure for an example have a unique way in building headphones, making their highs in headphones really crisp.
While Bose has some technology which others don't have, making it more expensive.
There are some Sony one, but the cheaper ones don't fair too well in quality.
Skull candies just suck :p
Sennheiser (sp) are generally pretty good for price. The CX500 are good quality for £50 (I think)
The Bose In ear headphones are more or less a minature version of the B&W Zepplin speakers. Awesome bass and awesome highs
Also, When the Apple In ear headphones come out I will be making a review, using different songs, and comparing using 3 headphones. Ordinary Apple headphones, Shure SE110, and the Bose In ear headphones.

Facepalm. They are not released yet, they were announced, but they have not been released. Meaning, we cannot buy them yet. :mad:

Well at the bottom there is no iPhone picture, so I'm guessing that the headphones work, but the mic/controls don't.

The pins are in the same places on both however, they already make an iPhone headset, so why sell this one with its name too?
If you look under what's in the box for iPhone the iPhone headset is there too. The iPhone headset is basically the same thing, its just not in-ear

I hope that they release them soon... I'd love to have volume and track control via headphones... I know that they don't officially support iPhone 3G, but me thinks that they probably will still work. But me also thinks that Engadget or Giz or TUAW will test it for me first :D:D

I know for a fact that it wont work because the pins in the 3.5mm jack on the ipod are made for the music controls. And the same exact pins on the iphone will only answer calls. So with that being said the Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic earbuds will only answer calls on the iphone 3G nothing more. Sorry if i sound mean:o

whats the point in announcing a product and then having the public forget about them when they were announced along side of the products they're made for?
Apple sucks.

Has anyone else noticed that when they were released they had a 7-10 Business Days Shipping Date on them. I ordered them yesterday then today I checked again and it haas a 2-3 week shipping date. Also the people at Endgadget have already received the sample headphones from Apple. And apparently thee headphones are as good as advertised. I hope APPLE will Ship them ASAP...... It says that the remote supports Touch 2.0 only..Is that true? Got a Touch 1.0 here..
It supports Ipod Classic..so it HAS to support the first iPod touch right?

I ordered mine immediately after they were made available and received notice that Apple shipped it from Hong Kong via DHL.
It is scheduled to arrive on 12-18-08. Since they are shipping direct from HK and I live on the west coast I assume that I will probably be one of the first to receive one. :D

The Griffin iTalk is awesome. Use your own in ear headphones, and add the mic and control. It works with fring, Skype, and all the other recording apps. It is like $15 on eBay. Highly recommended.

ok w/ the Ipod Touch 2g for phone calls.

Well I received my new Apple in-ear headphones yesterday, and already I'm a HUGE fan. Wow, first...compared to ear buds, there's just no comparison. Sound isolation on a busy commuter train is exceptional - the entire world disappears and the tiniest background sounds, whispers and cymbals come through with amazing clarity. Another huge advantage is the inline controls for volume, pause, FFWD and RWD...it's so nice to be able to leave the touch in my pocket and just go to sleepy land.
I had to substitute the medium silicone sleeves for the small, the mediums being a little too ear-filling and a little uncomfortable but otherwise an excellent start for me.
I have to get used to the sound transfer up through the cable when walking/bumping the cord, but for me that's an acceptable 'price' to pay for the massive improvement in sound quality.
