You really didn't look very hard because you could have easily found out it is not possible yet.

You can't use software to unlock it you need this SIM unlock hardware or something like that. It's $20 and it's not guaranteed to work.

The only way is through a chip you put ontop of your SIM card. I'm pretty sure it's illegal, but then again they are on eBay, and eBay is supposed to prohibit all illegal things, and with as many as there are on there, I'm pretty sure they'd notice it.

It's also illegal to unlock it with software. It's illegal to unlock it fullstop.

there are loop holes in the that law though. for example, you can unlock for personal use, and that is why we are able to discuss it on this site

I would do it you bought it. It was illegal to unlock my razr back when it was worth 200-300$ and I got it for 29$ with a plan. I unlock, value goes up. So you bought it, I honestly don't see the big deal. So just because Apple says jailbreaking is illegal, do we still do it? So just because Apple and your phone comany say unlocking is illegal, wouldn't you still do it? I would.

Phone unlocking is not illegal, but it is in breach of the terms of service, thus voiding your warranty.

Umm no it isn't in Hong Kong. It's by law that EVERY phone is unlocked. Even the iPhone 3G. But the iPhone 3G is unlocked till you put your SIM card in, then the phone will be locked to that SIM

I agree with that, iPhone unlocking isnt illegal
is just voids the warranty of the phone.
or simply "do it ur own risk"
