It seems neat, but isn't Apple gonna do one at some point? I mean, they must be planning on selling it in Korea, and most of its functions would be useless without a Korean keyboard. I'd rather wait for that than do a hack.

They are already selling and they aren't planning to make Korean keyboard yet. And many Korean people are pissed about it. This keyboard is great but it still has some bug.

someone correct me if I am wrong, but I think it is the same as the Japanese keyboard. While typing using an English alphabet keyboard in Japanese you get the Japanese equivalent. Ex. I type in "ha" and get the kana or kanji equivalent.

Can't wait to try out the Korean keyboard but will it replace the Japanese one (think that is what someone said??) Also anyone know of a Korean dictionary that can be installed?

한국어 포럼이 생겼다니 참 좋네요. 앞으로 활발한 대화가 이루어지길.. :D

To Moderators: Please change the name of this forum to "한국어(this is official.)". There are a lot of differences between "韓國말" and "한국어".
Actually, "韓國" isn't Korean character. It's Chinese character.

You are correct- this keyboard replaces the Japanese keyboard supplied by Apple. It's a pity how Apple is ignoring (while selling) to Korean users. If you frequently use the Japanese keyboard, you'll have to give up Japanese or Korean until Apple releases an official Korean keyboard. As far as I know, a korean dictionary can be installed with the jailbreak software.

Thanks for the reply! After sniffing around the site that offered the Korean keyboard I saw there is a dictionary too! But darn if I know how to install that-haha just got my touch and transferring files outside of dragging and dropping is lost on me presently-but I know it can be done!!! ^_^

yah i had the same problem so i basically used my ssh program ( i used winscp ) and manually installed it into the ipod touch... and works..

i wonder if u can change the ㄱ, ㄷ, ㅂ, ㅌ, ㅍ to not use shift... when i type fast i forget to use shift before typing, crashes the ipod sometimes.. i wonder if any of the new custom made korean keyboard can fix it

It shows up when you type in a syllable or part of the syllable so that it can help you quickly find what you are trying to write.

Well, I doubt it. What I didn't understand about my touch is why it DIDN'T come with a Korean keyboard. It Lets you put settings in Korean, yet there's no keypad. It's obvious they wanted Koreans to buy the Touch, but why not have the keyboard. And even if Apple does put a Korean keypad on the touch, if you already own one then how will you get it, unless you buy a new one? You might as well hack. I already did, and I love it. They kind of integrated it with the Japanese keyboard. It's pretty cool, and even if there will be a way later, you could just hack for now, and then later delete it when the official one comes, although I doubt they will. Probably in Korea only.

If they were to add a Korean keyboard, you wouldn't need to buy a new Touch - it would be added through a firmware update. That's how, for example, you can now add events to your calendar on the Touch, even though if you bought it back in October, you couldn't have.

You can upgrade your iPod Touch to version 2.0, a $9.99 charge, and you will get a full fledged Korean keyboard with no bugs.

@ ItzJames88, "iLingo" is garbage if you already speak the language and you just need a dictionary. It's only a phrasebook, and not even all that accurate for some sayings.

Declan software makes a really nice dictionary for Windows Mobile, and they will have it out in the App store for the iPod/iPhone before the end of the year.
