I think it's interesting that with all the threads asking about headphones preferences, I just spent some time googling for what people think of as some of the best MUSIC for listening to through good cans. Not much comes up. So thought maybe this might be a fun thread to start here...

To qualify for this list, it would have to be music that you appreciated much more after listening to through good 'phones. Music that had instruments or riffs that you might not have even heard or noticed before.

I'll start it off -- in no particular order...

Rocky Horror Picture Show Original Soundtrack -- Tim Curry's voice is one of the great ones of all time.
OK Computer & Kid A (whole albums among other tracks) -- Radiohead
Anything by Swell, especially the album "41" and the track "Get High"
Tequila -- The Champs
Cecilia -- Simon and Garfunkel
Hotel California -- The Eagles
Playground Love -- Air (from The Virgin Suicides)
Don't Let It Bring You Down -- Annie Lennox
Some Art of Noise
Video Killed the Radio Star -- The Buggles
Most anything by Cake... it's all pretty good for headphone listening
Some Rage Against the Machine...
Pink Floyd, of course -- especially "Bike"!
Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi - O Fortuna -- Carl Orff (I believe the first time I heard this was in the movie Excalibur)
Head Like a Hole -- Devo
Coconut -- Harry Nilsson (a real treat!)
Pleasure Principal -- Gary Numan
Never Going Back Again -- Fleetwood Mac
Midlife Crisis -- Faith No More
Fight Club Soundtrack -- Dust Brothers
Habanera from Carmen -- Maria Callas

Well, that's a start...

I think anything by the Blue Man Group is a good test for bass, since it is pretty much based around percussion.

I don't think too many folks troll the threads buried way down here...

Children of the Sun - Billy Thorpe

Just try it with headphones, it's cool
