Hey, just wanted to get an idea out there.

Do you guys think it would be a good idea to have a sort of DVD/CD/Book collection manager. Sort of a database with set fields such as

Name:
Main Actors:
Rating:
etc.

I have one on my computer, and I really like it, since not all of my DVDs and CDs are in one place.

Anybody willing to make this happen :cool:

Sorry for the ancient bump, but I was thinking about this today and figured I'd just bring this thread back up since there are a bunch more dev teams and coders now than when I last posted this.

It would also be cool to have a jacket/cover field.

Forgive me for not understanding completely, but do you mean a seachable database, with information on DVD's/CD's, and the like, or what exactly?
A giant list of every media available that can be played on the ipot?

And sorry about this one, but I have to say it, books have actors?

No, I mean a database where you can put in the books/CDs/DVDs/Video games that you own, your ratings, and that sort of information.

No, books don't have actors, when I mentioned actors I was referring to DVDs.

Ohh I see now, but I still think that it would be better if you could sync with the internet, and find other people's ratings, and favorites. Plus I don't have enough DVD's or CD's to make a database useful for me.

EDIT: I just noticed that it has an export to iPhone option. Unfortunately, I'm on Windows.

What is the program you use on Windows?

I use MediaMan, which is more or less a clone of the program I linked to above. It has an export to .html function, but it doesn't play too nice with the iPod.

That would be cool too, but I was thinking of this, for example, in the way that I have a ton of DVDs not on my iPod, and I'd like to be able to have a "mobile" catalog of them.

what im think what he is trying to say is like have a library where you download all your videos and stuff like that
