Tutorial For Making Carrier Icons (Using Fireworks Mx)

Programs Needed Photoshop Pro or my favourite Fireworks Mx basicly any program where you can select the paper size and have a transparent background
I Will do the guide for Fireworks Mx Then will do one for paintshop Pro

Open Fireworks And create a new document Size Width = 100 Hight = 20

Choose Transparent background from the list of White Transparent Custom

Hit Ok Lets just make a simple one Saying 'iHack'

Now press the 'A' Simbol down the left side of controls

Make a text box on the workspace you have just opened it should be checkered

Down the left side make sure the fill colour is made to black this can be any colour but for now make it black (The paint tin)

Type in 'iHack' now press the white arrow at the top right hand corner of the tools

Move the text you have just written into the center

File, Save As, Default_CARRIER_IPOD.png just save to desktop

now delete the text by pressing it and right click cut

now make another text box and change the fill colour to white type in 'iHack'

move into center again

File, Save As, FSO_CARRIER_IPOD.png just save to desktop

now close Fireworks and open up your favourite ssh client (Winscp Cuteftp 8 Cyberduck)

Press the 2 buttons at the top of your ipods list to go to the very top folder there should be a list Applications.....

Go To /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app

on the left side of the window drag and drop the 2 icons you have just saved to your desktop and make sure they dont fall
into any other folder you will get a message saying Replace old icons press 'Yes To All'

dissconnect from ssh and go to SMBPrefs and restart Spring board or Re-boot your ipod And Like magic you have your
own customized icon

Photoshop Tutorial Scroll Down

The Photoshop Version

this is not my main choice but i can still do a tutorial on it

open photoshop and create a workspace width = 100 Hight = 20

Hit Ok now we will make the same as the one before press the 'T' on the tools on the left of the screen

Draw your text box and then type in there 'iHack' make sure the fill is black and then move the writing to the center

now press file save and save it as Default_CARRIER_IPOD.png just save to desktop for now

now delete the text and then do the same by making another text box and change the fill to white

type out 'iHack' and then press file save as and save it as FSO_CARRIER_IPOD.png make sure you dont overwrite
the previous one

now close photoshop and open your ssh client (Winscp Cuteftp 8 Cyber Duck)
