Hey guys,

I recently received two BestBuy gift cards for Christmas. They total up to $35 and I thought I would buy some new earphones instead of the Apple ones. I could spend more than $35 (way more), but I don't want to buy some stupid earphones for $100. I'm going to put all of my cash in saving so I have $35 to spend on earphones.

I've narrowed it down to these to options:

or

Skullcandy - Smokin' Bud Ear Bud Headphones - Black: Here! (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8358234&type=product&id=1177112902751)

Has anyone tried at least one or both of these earphones? I'm looking for decent quality sound (better than Apples) and some good bass. Which of these is the better option?

Okay thanks. My friend just got some SkullCandys too and he likes them. A lot of people say the wear out easily though. That's why I'm looking for some more people to give their opinion on this.

You can get it from Circuit City and Best Buy... the Bass for the Skull Candy is really good and it's loud!

Okay, sounds like the bass is good then? That's one of the things I want. And yeah, with BestBuy gift cards, that is my obvious choice on where to buy them.

Anyone used the Sony Earbuds? I'd like to have some information to compare with here.

Do not the the Smokin' Buds..I have both the Smokin Buds and those sony ones.

Sound quality is good, not the best..but what did ya expect from $35 headphones? And they are made very well, I've had mine for almost a year with no issues

Overall though, the Sony buds trumph the skull candy's in everything but style.

Ive had them for a long time, and I loved them. They break after a few months, but they have a lifetime warrenty so you get a free pair. The bass is VERY good. So is the overall sound quality.
You wont regret getting them.

IMO Quality is 1234342x better than style :cool:

a lot of people like skullcandy's because they are cheap and comfy, which is great, but they are incomparable to the higher end models like the sony's or apple in ears because of sound quality.

just remember that when you are buying audio equipment of any kind, the higher the price tag, the better quality youre getting.

Are you saying that apple headphones are better than skullcandys?

i have NO idea... i personally like sony. but i'm not sure if that applies to these earphones... the skullcandy ones seem kinda overated, focussing on looks, lol

Here is my recommendation:

Use the gift card to buy something else worthwhile like Verbatim DVD-Rs.
Buy either one of these earphones from amazon.com or somewhere else because Bestbuy does not have anything good for $35. I don't own these personally.

1. Sennheiser CX300-B Earbuds (Black) - $20 (Cheap and good) 4 stars and 546 reviews.
2. V-MODA Bass Freq Earbuds - Bling Bling Black - $20 also
3. Sennheiser CX 500-B $48.42

Many other good earphones can be found on amazon or online.

Personally I use Ultimate Ears Super Fi 5 Extended Bass but that is out of your budget probably.

But if I am forced to choose between the 2 that you had in mind, then it would be Sony since I own a MDR-EX71SL.

whatever u do, dont buy the skullcandys, they block no noise and arent comfortable at all
