All right, for those of you wanting a little clarification about Redsn0w and it's relation to the 2G jailbreak, read the following post made in this (http://ijailbreak2g.wordpress.com/) page and tell me what you think.

2G Exploit found! Redsn0w will be available soon!

Well, the image on the “redsn0w” website was updated today, and to our surprise, it was the biggest giveaway of all to prove that this is infact, a 2G Jailbreak. The reason for that is the small circular image in the center of the star, shows the 2G iPod Touch’s new processor which the iPhone 3G does not have. You can even check out the iPhone Dev Team’s blog that states that it is not a 3G related project. Which is great news for the iPod Touch 2G users. MuscleNerd has confirmed that the jailbreak will be available to all in a couple of days.

We are guessing on Sunday (which is Funday for them) or I could be wrong. This is just speculation. Nevertheless, I thank them for jailbreaking the 2G in under an hour (MuscleNerd told me this himself)! But, I must give a HUGE thank you to the Chronic Dev Team for attempting to find the jailbreak. Without them, I don’t think the iPhone Dev Team would’ve even looked at the 2G.

Anyway, with that said, check this link out for a FAQ about redsn0w.

iPod Touch 2G Jailbreak redsn0w FAQ (http://www.ipodtouchfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131018)

By the way, you can bet that I’ll be sure to post a jailbreak review/guide of it as soon as it’s released! Also, since this jailbreak is finished, I’m no longer attempting for an exploit (for obvious reasons), so I will now change this blog name to a little more appropriate. Will think about a name change soon.

Here's an idea.. don't just waltz into a thread and insult the decent, helpful people there with an immature crass comment and then expect them to forget... and don't expect them to take your so called 'friendship' as an apology, if that is what this in fact is...

yup. i was reversing 2.2 ibss / bootrom, which the exploit was silently fixed in. within a few minutes of looking at a 2.1 ibss for lulz, i also found it. it is a mistake apple made, they accidently left in a test command and forgot to restrict it to only devices with a developer / debug board, as they do with diags / fs / bdev / etc.

not exactly, and that is the reason that I don't have anything to release. a payload needs to be written, you need to figure out how to write it so that the arm7 will execute it, and also you need a way around the bootrom signature check. devteam has done all of this, afaik, or they would not have announced it. it is not as simple as just finding an exploit :)

Yes, but since they've already jailbroken the 2G, they just needs to implement the jailbreak process into a tool then release it to the public.

well, it is assumed. they could be working on the jailbreak payload, as I have already said, since they need a good and stable one.

Wait im a bit confused. Are they done? like it can definitely be jailbreaked? Did they finish everything? now all is needed is a tool w/ GUI?
