EDIT: To save you the hassle of reading this thread, someone was playing a prank on me. False alarm ;)
I've been experimenting with bluetooth on the 2G iPod touch, and I've discovered something strange. This morning when I used my Motorola RAZR to find my iPod touch over bluetooth, the name discovered was some random assortment of numbers and letters. However, after pairing my iPod to my MacBook, the RAZR now finds the name of the iPod touch as "A VIRUS".
WTF???
Is this something Apple has designed to encourage random people not to try and connect to developer beta iPods? Has anyone else had this experience?

No, there isn't a way to change the bluetooth name. I'm wondering if it has to do with the RAZR. I'm going to check with my Vodafone 716.

^^Of course I have.
The Vodafone 716 can't find the iPod, so no luck there.

Okay, here is the latest:
The MAC address of the discovered device "A VIRUS" does not match the bluetooth MAC address found in the About section of the iPod, but it is only visible when the iPod bluetooth is on and discoverable.

Update.
I've managed to get it to show up on my MacBook.

The MAC address is 00-18-AF-19-55-5A and I don't have any devices with that MAC address.

Hmm... My phone (Samsung A827 "Access") finds my iPod as "<My Name>'s iPod." In iTunes, your iPod doesn't happen to be named "A VIRUS," does it? Because that's where it gets the name from.

Update.
Okay, I'm now thinking this is someone in my building playing a prank with their mobile phone
lol
EDIT: Yeah, it seems coincidental that it would fade away when I turned off my iPod. Now I moved to the other side of my flat and I can pick it up with all devices including iPod powered off.
Sorry everyone, but I think it's a FALSE ALARM... LOL
