I have obtained the 3.0 beta software file and I was wondering why iTunes gives be error code 1403 when i try to update.. any ideas?

I'm not sure about that exact error, but did you get it legal (i.e. from the apple dev center), if not then the firmware UUID is not matching and it's rejecting it, there is a workaround. but i don't condone it.

I didn't entirely get it from legit sources. A friend obtained it somehow and gave me a copy of the .ipsw file. I'm plan to get a dev account but don't have all the money now. I plan to develop several fun apps and maybe a game!

You really shouldn't ask for help for anything that is not entirely legit. If it doesn't work, then you should leave it and wait for pple to release the rel one, and pay for it if it costs

there is a way around it.. u need to not be connected to the internet with both ur computer and ipod... i think.. i'm going 2 be trying it out soon.. soooo....

make sure its the correct ipsw. when i downloaded the 1G ipsw from Apple, for some reason i downloaded the wrong firmware, and i had to redownload it to get it to work.
