I don't see what the big deal is to see the new firmware jailbroken. The dev team already said it's possible, i'm more interested to hear about people's experiences testing out the 3.0 firmware, what they like, what they don't like. Jailbreaking for me is a non issue unless there's something I REALLY REALLY need that the firmware itself doesn't provide.

This device isn't even jailbroken. IMG3 images are unsigned on 3.0 so sticking in your own boot logo is not a big deal I don't think. Even still, you could have taken the boot logo image of the 2.2.1 boot logo and then restored to 3.0. Anyway you look at it, you haven't jailbroken.

.img3's in the new 3.0 are not encrypted, changing the boot logo would be very easy, the trouble is getting the rootfs key in order to put Cydia in there.

So is changing boot logo in 3.0 is as simple as to just drag your custom .img3 file into the firmware file before upgrading?

The bootlogo is like that for first start. Then it goes away. You did not jailbreak it.

Writing to the NOR is simple.
The real problem is actually getting your data into the NAND (safely, anyway).
Sure, you could use a ZiPhone-like script (by including your script in /etc/.profile), but that isn't the most reliable thing ever.
It could be in my situation, since I'm copy something small (OpenSSH), but Cydia wouldn't work very well.

And whoever said we need the RootFS key; we really don't.
It'd be nice and we eventually need it, but QuickPwn mounts an already decrypted file system and modifies it, so there's no need for it.
I like custom firmwares more than ramdisks (well, when publishing methods, anyway) because they are not as hacky.

This means nothing, it's no progress. The boot logo files aren't encrypted, meaning all he did was replace one file in the firmware with the applelogo.img3 file from a jailbroken one.

No it's not better then nothing, it is nothing, because Apple will encrypt those img3's once they release the final 3.0 firmware, and boot logos will not be possible unless you get the Keys and IVs. Back to base one.

^ You can just make a custom firmware using QuickFreedom or QuickPWN with 2.2.1 or any other firmware, and just unzip it, grab the img3 file that you want, and rename it to match the 3.0 firmware, place it in the 3.0 firmware, and restore with that.

2) he opened it with winrar or something like it

btw the boot logo does not be like this the frst time. it didn't happen to me i i've been using a leaked one.

A good friend's father is a dev. He happens to show me the boot screen of his iPod touch 2g it looked the same, so I asked to see some of the features I had seen in the deveolpers confrence video I found on YouTube , ok so he showed me a couple of the apps and features it was awesome but he is very protective of his iPod ,he took it back. I will not reveal his name but let's just say he likes to brag

I've actually now managed to jailbreak 3.0b1 (because I have an example I can work with, the QuickPwn patched 3.0b2 kernel).
It's really no different from 3.0b2; everything still crashes.

I have the 3.0 firmware and its the same logo as before, so it could be a jailbreak, but photoshop can make it look real,but i dont know whats real or not anymore, i guess well all see when he gets a video up somewhere

And you CAN SSH, you need to use something like TotalCommander+TPot, iFunBox, programs like that. Terminal doesn't work though, either does Mobile Substrate hacks, so yeah, devs only and all that jazz. I got it legally, from apple.
