When the new 3.0 software comes out and it's jailbreakable. will it be safe enough to install the software without jailbreaking or restoring our ipods/phones again?

That makes no sense. The only thing thatisn't safe to do with your iPod is try to tear it apart with your bare hands.

ok here's a better explanation. when you download the new firmware, do you have to rejailbreak it?

you can't jailbreak the 3.0 firmware yet because it hasn't been released

The beta was leaked...bottom line is. Yes you do have to rejailbreak. but no one has figured one out yet for 3.0.

The released 3.0 will no doubt be safe enough to install web apps and restore.

That is the prime reason for having a beta: to work out the details.

It is also to give developers a chance to get their "web apps" ready for the new release.

oh what i meant to say was for all of the jailbroken ipods/phones out there when the new jailbroken firmware goes out, does upgrading make you lose all or your data?

Yep, you're gonna have to restore, upgrade, then jailbreak.
