Ok, a lot of people are saying that the new firmware 3.0 is so buggy. the 2.2.1 is much faster and less buggy than the firmware 3.0, but the firmware 3.0 have a lot of things, like the bluethoot unlock, "universal search", copy & paste, etc.
What you will do?

of course 3.0 -.-
it's only a beta, you don't expect it to have the same bugs in the release version do you?

well... i'm on a first gen ipod touch so most of the 3.0 upgrades are already available in a simple method, for a iphone user it might be different.

A lot of people saying it's buggy most likely don't actually have it. That's the standard reply for people without the latest firmware.

there should be an option for maybe :p I have first gen iPod and have had 3.0 on my device and found not much of a difference besides the spotlight and landscape keyboard.

I will upgrade as soon as there is a jailbreak. From my understanding, a few people are legitimately close to having a jailbreak for it. I actually can't really upgrade until there is a jailbreak because over 90% of apps on my iPod are cydia apps

Short version:
So why is Apple doing this? I have no inside knowledge, but the issue is revenue recognition when you deliver a product/service in multiple pieces over time. When you have a subscription based business, it’s easy to tie something like major software upgrades to the ongoing payments customers make. But when you deliver major functionality over time to a device that was paid for all at once some time in the past, you must assess how much of the revenue is recognized at the time of the initial sale and how much of the revenue must be deferred to the time of the upgrade. There are many tests that accountants must apply to the situation.
........
You have to divvy up all of the revenues you receive over the entire time that you are delivering the product. If you add functionality to a product, then you can be considered to still be delivering that product. Apple is being conservative, as many companies do not consider firmware upgrades to be “still delivering the product.” But their conservative approach isn’t completely unreasonable. Apple could choose to defer recognizing revenue from the initial sale, but that would be messier to account for and would decrease the revenue they got to recognize immediately when an iPod Touch is sold.

Basically, from what I can interpret, it is like this. You buy the iPod Touch. You get everything that is on it when you bought it, what was given to you at the time you bought it. That's it. The features, software, everything, right there, when you bought it, for the price you bought it. Now, if you want more, you can either (A) Pay for the new features ($10.00) or you can (B) Buy a new iPod Touch all together ($229 - $350 USD). Whereas the iPhone, you're not completely paying for it up front (Subsidy paid by AT&T or whatever carrier you run). You're locked down to a subscription.

This is just more BS. Updates to the G1 add features all the time and they never charged for them. Its all BS! Applications from the appstore add features through updates and do not charge for those features at all.
Its a bunch of shit! The reason apple adds new features to the product is to 1.) Keep people using it. The more its in someone hand the better chance of them hitting the 'Buy now" button in one of the stores. 2.) They want to attract more buyers.
They charge because people will pay for it. No other reasons.

Where is the negative in your post?
EDIT: What do you mean Applications from the App Store add features? They don't add features, they're something to do. It's like saying Photoshop is a feature on OS X/Windows when you buy it. But it isn't, its a Tool. Same goes for a game. It isn't a feature, its a game.
EDIT EDIT: Also, Android is open source. Meaning, those features were always there in the first place. You had the choice of either: Unlocking it yourself or waiting for an update to unlock it. The iPhone OS is closed source (with some Open Source components), meaning, you can't actively unlock those features without hacking into it (Jailbreaking).

im going to update once the dev team releases their official jailbraking software (quickpwn i think). i can wait as long as needed to get it done right. so i wont use anyother software to jailbrake.

Your post was saying that apple had a legal obligation to charge for a FW update. Im saying if that is true then google would have to charge for updates to the G1 that add new features and developers would have to charge for updates to an app when adding new features like online game play. They dont charge for updates because its a choice.

I'm going to stick with 2.2.1 for a bit and let other people find out if it's as buggy as 2.0 was. If it is, I'll wait. If not, I'll upgrade. But I'm sure as hell not paying. I spent $20 on the January App Pack, and then Apple went along and included that in the $10 upgrade to 2.0. I'm not paying for any iPod software updates ever again.

The stuff in Android was always there wasn't it? Adding and Opening are not the same thing. Also, you can't compare the G1 to the iPod touch. One is a cellular device, one isn't. One you pay for a subsidized amount with a contract. One you pay all of up front with no contract and no ability to connect to a cellular internet network.

to the whole buggy issue.. its because its in beta form,.. thats what its for.. so that we can find the bugs, and let apple fix them.. and then another beta release will come out.. and so on, until they decide its fit enough for official release... the bugs won't stay.. not all of them.. there may be some new bugs that we will find in the official FW that we didn't find in the beta, but then we'll have a 3.0.1... and so on.
but.. here's my deal.. as soon as the dev team officially releases a jailbreak method, whether it is manual or automatic... i'm upgrading and jailbreaking. hands down. and i'm also gonna get the new ipod touch when it comes out.. and that should come with 3.0 stock anyways.. so...
