I've been seeing a ton of threads in the wake of psx4all's beta release. I've got some time on my hands and would like to help out, so here we go. You will need a jailbroken iPod for this.
Note: You can now downlaod psx4all off Installer.app. It will make it much easier.
Here we go.
Step 1: Getting the Program
Click this link to download psx4all v0.1.0.
http://zodttd.com/forum/index.php?topic=154.0
Extract it by right clicking on the archive and clicking "Extract to psx4iphone_0_1_0". Step 1 complete. Congratulations.
Step 2: Putting the Program on your iPod touch
Now that you have the program, you need it on your iPoT. Just put it onto your iPoT like you would any other program. In WinSCP or TotalCommander, first connect to your iPod. Then, in the right column, locate to the folder called Applications. Drag the folder "psx4iphone.app" into the right column. Let it do it's thing. Yay, you put it onto your iPoT.
Since this is an idiot-proof guide, I'm putting a tutorial for WinSCP and TotalCommander in here, just in case you don't know how to use them.
WinSCP
1.) Download WinSCP from this link: http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?groupname=winscp&filename=winscp405setup.exe&use_mirror=internap
2.) Install it and reboot your computer.
3.) Open up WinSCP. For the Host Name, put your iPoT's IP Address. To find this, go to Settings on your iPoT, click on Wi-Fi, then click the blue arrow next to your network's name. The IP address is the first thing you'll see. Put that into the Host Name box. For User Name, put root. The password is alpine. Those are the only ones that work, no matter what. Make sure the port number is 22. The click Save so you don't have to enter that crap every time you need to connect. Click OK then click Login. That should work, then put it onto your iPoT.
TotalCommander
1.) Download it from this link: http://www.ghisler.com/download.htm
Then download this too: http://t-pot.googlecode.com/files/T-PoT.0.2.zip
2.) Install TotalCommander.
3.) Extract the T-PoT archive.
4.) Open up TotalCommander. Click on Configuration near the top of the window, then click on Options. Click on Plugins from the left column. Click Configure under File System Plugins (.WFX) in the middle. Click Add then find the T-PoT.0.2 folder and the T-PoT.wfx file in that folder and click Open. Then press Ok, and close TotalCommander. Open it up again and find the drop-down menu over the right column that says "[-c-]". Drop it down and click on the last option, [-/-]. That should bring you to all the files on your iPoT. I highly recommend using this since it transfers large files very quickly.
Note: If there are multiple files to one game, such as a .img, a .ccd and a .sub, you will need to put all three of them into the ROMs folder.
Anyways, back to the guide.
Step 3: Setting the Permissions to 755
For this, you can use either Squid or Finder. I use Squid. Download it from Installer, then open it up. Touch Applications, then find psx4all.app. Touch that, then find psx4all at the bottom. Touch that, and you'll see nine green boxes. Make sure that all of the boxes with Read next to them are checked, same with the ones with Exec next to them. There are also three boxes with Write next to them. Only touch the left-most box, then press Apply. That will set the permissions to 755 and make psx4all work. It should look like this:
http://img114.imageshack.us/img114/4870/755zb7.jpg
Step 4: Putting Games onto your iPoT
Open up WinSCP or TotalCommander and get into your iPoT's files. This time, go down and click on "var". Then click "root", then "Media", then "ROMs", then "PSX". Find the ROM you downloaded on the left column and drag it into the right column. This might take a while, so I highly recommend TotalCommander because it's the fastest way to transfer games. Let it finish, close TotalCommander or WinSCP, then that's all there is to it. Congratulations, you've gotten PSX games on your iPod touch!
Step 5: Getting the BIOs file
You're going to want the BIOs file for psx4all. I cannot post it in this thread for legal reasons, so I recommend going to www.google.com and typing something like "scph1001.bin download" and clicking on the first result. Something like that :) One you've got that, extract it and put it onto your iPoT in the psx4all directory. Remember, it's Applications/psx4all.app. Then, go into Squid and and change the permissions of the scph1001.bin file to 755. There you go!
Note: I cannot post any links to ROM sites on here for legal reasons. PM another member for some links.

Followed your steps to installing but I've run into a problem. Got Squid onto my ipod touch, went to Applications, psx4all at the bottom, and to the screen with the 9 green boxes. but once there none of the objects can be selected. Apply button not responding. Any tips? Is it not possible to just go to psx4all.app on CuteFTP pro and change all of them to 755 that way?
Just went back and changed it on CuteFTP pro hopefully that will be fine ^^

If you renamed your ROMs before you put them onto your iPoT, then all you have to do it put the extension that it had before you renamed it. For instance, if you had FF7(liek phr33 r0mz lulz).bin and you renamed it to Final Fantasy 7, you would need to name it Final Fantasy 7.bin. I learned that the hard way =D

Can it be done on a Mac?
I've been seeing a ton of threads in the wake of psx4all's beta release. I've got some time on my hands and would like to help out, so here we go. You will need a jailbroken iPod for this.
Note: psx4iphone v0.1.0 is now out! Download link provided. =D
Here we go.
Step 1: Getting the Program
Click this link to download psx4all v0.1.0.
http://zodttd.com/forum/index.php?topic=154.0
Extract it by right clicking on the archive and clicking "Extract to psx4iphone_0_1_0". Step 1 complete. Congratulations.

The IP address is the first thing you'll see. Put that into the Host Name box. For User Name, put root. The password is alpine. Those are the only ones that work, no matter what.
You make a folder called ROMs. It's case-sensitive, so make sure the s is lower case.
Above poster: Yes. You use a program like Cyberduck for sending files.

hey, i was just wondering. if the rom comes with multiple files like .cue .bin .ccd and .iso, do we need all of these files in the touch?
what do they do?
for now, all i do is look for the biggest file in the package and send that to my ipod.
one last thing: if a file has multiple cd, it isnt really a rom, right?
because i downloaded ff7 and it has 3 cds. i totally lost
any help is appreciated

I have a question regarding psx4all roms. When I go download roms for example final fantasy 7 it has multiple files such as part 1 part 2 part 3 and so on. Do I just place each part in /private/var/root/Media/ROMs/PSX and leave them so OR do I create a new folder and place all the parts in them? I am confused on how it will play on the Ipot because I own the game and it requires you to change disc every so often after completeing disc one and so on. How would that work on the IpoT?
Thank you

It doesnt work for me.
I'm using CuteFTP Pro.
When ever I drag the file 'scph1001.bin' in the psx4all.app it gives me this error.
STATUS:> Transferring file "/Applications/psx4all.app/Scph1001.bin"...
STATUS:> Changing directory to '/Applications/psx4all.app'...
STATUS:> Getting file information from latest listing ("/Applications/psx4all.app/Scph1001.bin").
STATUS:> Uploading file '/Applications/psx4all.app/Scph1001.bin'...
ERROR:> The requested operation failed for an unknown reason.
ERROR:> Server returned error.
STATUS:> SFTP21 connection closed.
But then I tried putting it in other folders like, /private/var/root and it worked.
What's the problem?

So this might seem like a stupid question but are we using total commander here? because when i open up total commander and go to the T-POT Dir I only get these directories

edit: soz found it on google code again code.google.com/p/t-pot/
EDIT 2: Another question, the game is quite smooth but the music is broken up and sweaky? Is there any wayof fixing this? should i try the other psx emulator on my installer list? is it just because the ipod cannot handle the audio and visuals at the same time?
THe games i have tried are crash bash and parappa the rapper. Has anyone got any games that are smooth audio and visual?

Ok. I've tried searching the boards and I am having trouble finding a straight answer for this. How am I able to play games that have multiple discs? Example would be Chrono Cross. Disc one has the Img file where as Disc 2 only has a Bin file. Do I dump both into the FTP program and set the port to 755?

I've just jailbroken my ipod touch and am now trying to get this to work. I think I got everything down but I cant get a game to run. I'm not sure if I messed something up or if its a problem with the ROM I got.
There is one game i've always wanted to try.. FFVII...If someone can be kind enough to PM me a link to a PSX ROM of Final Fantasy 7, I'd be so grateful! (tried 4 different downloads, cant seem to get a reliable one) (no 7zip files pls, failed too many times to extract it)... thanks

Hey guys. i'm new to the forums and joined because i need help with getting roms. i'm having trouble ith this step because when i try to log in it searches for a host then an error popup comes up and says "Network Error: Connection timed out." How do I fix this?

if it is taking yo to the directory with all the calculator, customize, finder gpsphone, and so on, then your in the applications directory, just open psx4all then copy the bios in there (and gba bios into gpSPhone), and if your on 1.1.3+ PSX roms should go in var/root/media/ROMs/PSX, if youre PSX folder and SNES/GBA folders are in the same location (as you satated above) then your PSX roms are in the wrong folder as well, GBA/SNES should be in var/mobile/Media/ROMs/PSX

Well, I have an Ipod Touch 2G with 2.2.1 FW and changed all of my permission to 0755 according to the guide, except of using Squid or whatever I just used WINscp and did it, I did this to ALL my PSX ROMs and and my scph1001.bin's, I say "s" because I don't quite know where to place it so i placed it in applications>PSX4all.app AND Media>ROMs>PSX, none of this is working, I did REBOOT my Ipod, NOT RESPRING, and no solution, so please clarify on the guide, when you say "Idiot Proof" i expect it VERY easy. Overall 4 Out of 5 stars, needs a bit work, but thanks for the basic info, great help

(i have no idea why people where finding this so hard simply typing it in to google follow by the words "download" work pretty well for me)
- extracted and place file into: var/mobile/media/ROMs/PSX//
like the note states
here's the problem, roms are pretty big and therefore will not ft into the free space. any advice would be great cause 'm not sure exactly how to go about fitting 700mb into 85mb. or is there something that i have missed?
cheers guys/girls

You are probably missing the bios file. It is names scph1001.bin (case sensitive), and must be placed in the ROMs folder for PSX4iPhone. You can find it on the internet. If it is crashing before the program even opens, then you probably need to try reinstalling the program.
