If you restored from a backup or are not registered as a dev, youtube won't work.

Well that answers a lot of questions. Now whenever I see someone posting YouTube not working, I iz gonna flame them for pirating 3.0. I tell people my YouTube works just fine and they never believe me.

Yeah. YouTube is activated as part of the thing. There's probably a way to do it, but really man! PIRATE!
EDIT: For the sake of it, I found that some activtion thing (90% sure it's YouTube related), then go to /var/root/Library/Lockdown and you should see some data_ark.plist and device_private_key.pem and device_public_key.pem and some other stuff. If the Lockdown folder doesn't even exsist, then you're not activated. The Lockdown folder isn't on the RootFS in the .ipsw!

I'm assuming this isn't a 2G iPod.

I'm using the 3.0b2 RootFS for iPhone 3G. Plus, I saw the YouTubeActivation.bundle in PwnageTool. The 2G iPod doesn't have a "publicly-made" jailbreak yet.

YouTube works... for those that are registered. Jailbroken or not Jailbroken, as long as you don't restore from a backup.

Enable rtst on the modem/router I guess... Check your iPod at other wifi areas such as shopping complex, coffee house, hotels, etc

I cannot get YouTube to work after my 3.0 upgrade and Jailbreak on my 1g Touch 8gb.
I didn't restore from a backup but from the patched firmware file from iTunes, although my iPod settings were copied back afterwards so I guess in that sense it was a backup.
Odd that there isn't any fix for it. Not that I can find anyway. If there is a conflict with backed up settings or favorites from the previous YouTube installation, then there should be a way to reset these, like deleting a preference file or something.
Well, who knows.
