Saurik has upgraded Cydia to be compatible with 3.0 OS ready for the official release.

Several things to note before you go ahead and start using the latest unofficial QuickPWN release below to jailbreak:


The QuickPWN jailbreak only patches codesign_, i.e. it only utilizes one of a total three essential kernel patches, meaning that the jailbreak is unstable and there will be problems with many jailbreak applications. Saurik has stated that, as far as he knows, Winterboard IS compatible with 3.0 but the lack of the two additional kernel patches means it won't work with this current jailbreak.
The 3.0 is beta still thus there is very little point in upgrading and jailbreaking, uınless you are a developer looking to test on this platform. For everyone else, wait another month or so for the official 3.0 OS release.
This QuickPWN + 3.0 Cydia release only works on the 3G iPhone (work by lilstevie & Hozy), 2G iPhone & 1G iPod Touch (work by iphoneapps.ru). If you do upgrade your 3G iPhone to 3.0 beta 5 remember that you will also upgrade your baseband to the latest unhacked version and thus will kill any chance of downgrading your baseband and/or unlocking for other operators with yellowsn0w.
The DevTeam have stated that any official FULL 3.0 jailbreak and official QuickPWN GUI will only be released once the 3.0 OS has been officially released.


If you still want to try Cydia out on 3.0 beta 5 here is a link to an upgraded unofficial QuickPWN release that includes the Cydia 3.0 payload:

The Iphone-Dev team already have all patches up and running, when i put the bundle together i could not be bothered going to the effort to find and do the others, when the russian jailbreak doesnt do them either, its only a beta os release.

Anyhow.. I upgraded, jailbroke, opened Cydia, added the source for that WinterLite, installed it, restarted, and it worked! Well, kinda :p The only thing that worked was the transparent dock and hide icons names options, and Cydia stopped working after installing it..

So, I don't recommend it :p

Well I made a .deb out of it, and whenever i try to install it via dpkg -i Cydiafor3.0.deb it tells me something obout overwriting a picture in the package "yellowsn0w.com" that doesn't even exist!

cydia works but some things still have not taken effect like sbsettings. i've tried this jailbreak and got winterboard and it works except for the fact that cydia doesnt work after the installation.

i was able to theme my 3.0b5, however. took a bit but i got it. too bad the wallpaper doesnt work. also if you have custom icons, they get cut off where the normal icon would if it were the square with rounded edges.

The kernel needs more patches (that don't exist in any of the jailbreaks yet).

I really should have looked at what was patched before, because apparently there are only codesign patches.
There are a couple more, like virtual memory mapping (vm_map_enter, to be specific).

The iPhone Dev-Team know exactly what to look for so when the 3.0 firmware is released followed by the jailbreak, they will patch all the things that need to be patched out.

well i thought mobile substrate needed updated. guess i was wrong.

i installed winterboard and it asked me to reboot my ipod touch 1g...
next thing you know it was stuck on the apple logo... so i had to restore..
i suggest everyone should avoid installing anything unless it has been proven that it works.

i've gotten winterboard to work. im back on 2.2.1 though but i'll go back to 3.0 to show that i have done it

Not yet. Sir Saurik says that demo Cydia patches only 1 of 3 kernels, and that's not enough for your iDevice to function regularly. Many of jailbreak applications depend on Mobile Substrate, which will always malfunction when just 1 of 3 kernels is patched
