I currently have a 16GB iPhone 3G. I want to sell it before the 3GS comes out in hopes of making more money. But if i can't jailbreak it I would kill myself. What do i do.

Best to like, I don't know... Wait for the Dev team to say something.

i say keep the 3g.
not only do you stay on the safe side, but you also save yourself money that can be used in a better place.

one of the new features was hardware encryption... I don't exactly know what that means but when I saw that I was just like "uh oh no more easy jailbreak soon"

well if you're not in a hurry for a jailbreak, then go ahead and purchase it.

There has always been a hardware encryption engine... They are just now using it for data encryption.

i say just sit wait and see what happens. Then i will know what i am going to do. I just wish they would just make it a lil different so that you can at least see a difference in products. That way you can say yours is better and boast it. the 3gs

I would just buy the latest device, whether you can jailbreak it or not.

The only reason I would get a 3GS (if i didn't have an itouch) is video, and theres Cycorder for the 3g.

I think you should sell it asap and get a 3G(S), it probably won't be jailbroken right away, but you can be patient and wait for the Jailbreak, because it will happen eventually.

I wouldn't say that. If a jailbreak is a must for you keep what you have. I have as much faith in the dev-team as the next, but a jailbreak is never garentied with any new device.
Look at the 2g iPod touch jailbreak. There a lot of people reversing every line of code on it for months and it all came down to one mistake left by apple. With every new device apples grip gets tighter. The exploits and holes get fewer and harder to exploit. The exploits used for pwnage and quickpwn are at about the lowest level possible. I'm sure with the new phone apple paid extra atention there.

there are also some websites where you can find information about it:

you maybe amazed that i'm the only one with a normal iPod.
This is because i face some problems with Cyndia and jailbreak.
I need one week to solve these problems.
By-the-way does anybody know how to escape from the "black screen"?

I don't think that the jailbreak will be easy for the 3GS, but I think it will happen. It would be sweet to have that extra power and memory for certain jailbreak apps that frequently crash. The new iPhone 3GS has many of the features I would already jailbreak for like better SMS and (soon) MMS, video recording etc. The only reason to jailbreak now would be for Winterboard, SBSettings, Bossprefs, SSH, and iRealSMS. Who knows, maybe the 3GS jailbreak will be easier than ever. I don't know if they are purposely trying to make it harder to jailbreak, or if it just is sometimes because of the processor and stuff.

iPhone 3G with a jailbreak can do alot of the stuff the 3GS can do like video, mms, copy and paste, etc, etc. I just hate how 16 GB 3GS is being knocked down. cuz i just got an 8 GB :(

I say, wait untill around christmas.
why? because a jailbreak will be announced by then, plus prices may drop, an dive heard in UK more networks will be selling iPhone (rumour) so the price will be very competative...
Its upto, im waiting untill christmas :p plu si can ask for some money off family instead of them buying me a present and use money to put towards 3gs.
