Can I buy like the 32 gb iphone gs and just use it as and ipod instead of a cell phone and not activated it since it is cheaper than the 32gb ipod touch?

I can get the actually phone with no contract I just was wondering it it would work or if it had to be activated to use the ipod part of it...

it would have to be jailbroken. it won't be jailbroken for a while i think, and its like 600 bucks without a ontract.

Its cheaper only if you get the 2yr contract and stuff like that. It would be like $600 or something like that.
I pretty sure you can use everything but the phone feature without doing anything but buy it. Shoot me if I'm wrong. I might be.

I'm 100% positive.
^ I'd rather get an iPod Touch than pay $700 for a phone I won't use the main feature of.... (the phone)

You can get it for $500 if you already have an AT&T contract. That's what I'm doing.

Why don't you wait for someone on craigslist to buy one and sell it to you new for like $400 or so? Then just use your current iPhone 3G sim card on your new iPhone 3Gs...

erm buy an ipod touch, the 3GS is NOT cheaper, the monthly charge for 18/24 months will work out way way way more expensive
