I updated my iPod to the 3.0 and i didnt like it, so Im trying to downgrade it to 2.2.1 but now my ipod is stuck in DFU mode with the connect to itunes logo and it wont connect.

I keep getting the error the ipod software server could not be contacted. the server does not support this version of itunes.

do you have itunes 8.2? if so, try uninstalling it and installing itunes 8.1, then try again. i read somewhere that itunes 8.2 has a problem handling DFU mode correctly.

Yea I was doing dfu mode wrong.

Just keep trying with dfu mode.

Connect it to the computer. And hold down home and the top button until you hear it disconnect then stop holding the top button and keep holding home.

Then if the screen is black and it reconnects its in dfu.
