I have the VOIP program and have successfully made 5 to 6 phone calls through the wi-fi using voipbuster. However I do not have a microphone and can not communicate back to the person I'm calling.

Mics are available from a couple sources.

For me the voip would be awesome as I live in downtown Chicago and everywhere I go I can usually pick up 8 - 10 networks. Same goes for people on college campuses, etc ..

The only real advantage I see through the Iphone is a reliable (compared to the touch voip) means of communication. Iphone = monthly expense. Ive also heard the edge isn't all that impressive. I never use a camera - the bluetooth would be cool.

good luck

The thing that attracts me more is that i get a mic, bluetooth, camera, speaker phones, mobile phone + EDGE all out of the box for just $100 more...

Ahem, plus the monthly contract...

Well that was the reason i did not buy the iphone earlier but my cousin told me that he bought the iphone only and then cracked it and never had to deal with AT&T...

I believe you still need a contract to use EDGE, even if its a different carrier to AT&T.

Yah, i have a T-Mobile right now... i can just use my old card...
Also, EDGE is not very important to me..

I was in your position until Xmas. Nick and I had a little discussion which concluded that I wouldn't be happy until I set my hair on fire and went with the iPhone.

At least my hair is short now. :D

well u get free internet

u can now use voip to call some people
u can text smg and send emails

plus theres a monthly plan for it and adding a data plan and internet and text mnessaging
can cost u a lot!!

if u decide on iphone wait a while i here their making a newer update somin to do with camera i think not sure

plus the touch is skinner not by alot but it matters to some ppl
and again if anything happened i rather loose an mp3 player then a phone

phones are harder to get replaced , rather then mp3 players
