So what's out there? I'm awaiting the arrival of my Touch and am thinking about what case to buy to protect it. Belkin will be shipping these in mid-October. They're just what I was looking for, but I really don't like the techie design on it.

If keys, pins, and metal pieces can't scratch the new glass on iPod touch, things like plastic tempons will most likely not scratch it.

Getting dirty is another question.

I've been using the evo³ from iSkin for my 5th Gen. iPod ... it protects my iPod quite well but I'm sick of it now ... the touch is so nice looking and I don't want to screw that up by using a case ... i think I'm going to get me a foil ... :cool:

I spoke to the people at Belkin. Since the case hasn't been released yet, the CS guy didn't know if it had any kind of closure. He did say taht there is a clear screen built into the case to protect the Touch and that their other folios had either a light magnetic strip closure or snap and he thought this one would have something as well.

I also found this one by ezGear. I don't know if it comes in any other colors. It's not even on their website. Available Sept. 26th.

I would imagine it wouldn't interfere with the touch feature. ezGear has a clear screen protector too. One would hope that their design guys would be smart enough to consider that. ;)

The invisible shields are seriously the way to go. I had it on my 30gb and all my friends said that it was ridiculous...only because it wouldn't get scratched lol. I have one sitting on my desk for the touch right now. You wont regret it.

I happened to find a two-pack of PSP protectors at Target for $9.99. Having bought a PSP slim recently, I figured I'd buy one. While it won't cover the entire face of the iPoT, it will easily cover the screen, and cover most of the area near the home button (you'll have to exact-o-knife out the plastic for the Home button).

I don't have mine here yet, but I preordered the iClear, versus the Reflect. I have a hard plastic case on my iPod Photo and I've dripped it in my rock driveway, pavement, sidewalk, etc. and it has never came open or cracked. It just gets dented a little or a little scratched. If you take it out of the case, it looks brand new. But, to asnwer your question, it does add a little bit of thickness to my current iPod, but nothing major at all.

zCover just came out with some silicone cases. They come in four colors. I have an iSkin for my old ipod which I like, so I was hoping a company would come out with a silicone case soon, as I have been carrying my IPT around in one of my socks for a week! I personally like to have a case on my ipod because the fingerprints on the shiny back drive me crazy.

I think I may go ahead and get one of these, although I wish that a) it came in different colors-I am leaning towards the gray, but something like red or aqua would suit my fancy; and b) I wish that it didn't have rounded corners on the screen. It only obscures a small bit of the corners, but enough to sufficiently annoy me. So I'm debating...get one of these, or wait a couple more weeks to see if another company comes out with their silicone case so I have more options. What to do?

I bought a Vaja Case for my Ipaq HP2210 with custom colours. It had a wallet as part of it for notes and credit cards plus a belt clip. It was awesome quality and everyone remarked on it. I have my name on their waiting list for the Touch and will definitely get one of theirs. Hopefully with at least a credit card slot in it. They aint cheap though. Mine set me back $200 (Australian). Only use my Ipaq as GPS in the car now so the case is in the bottom of a drawer. It actually worked for my 5G iPod but I flogged it on eBay in prep for the iPottie. Hopefully since we have to wait we will get the better ones when they come out next month here.

For sleeves and the like, there's no reason you can't use the one designed for the iPhone. The only major difference is the length of the IPOT is 5mm shorter and 3mm thinner. 5mm is less than 1/4" - insignificant if you're talking about a sleeve.

Of course if you want a form-fitting case that you keep on the IPOT while in use or screen films, then you should wait for the specifically-designed accessories. But there's not reason why a large number of the iPhone accesories wouldn't do just fine. In fact, I'm certain that many manufacturers will simply repackage the same product labeled as "Ipod Touch."

I am getting the invisible skin to put on my Touchs chrome backside, but I'm not gonna use anything for the front. I should have my suede slipcase tomorrow from www.sfbags.com , looks pretty sweet, they have other cases and nice folios for all sizes of iPods, the SFbags folks are REAL nice and will ship out your case same day as ordered. My suede slipcover only cost 9.00. Now I can keep it in my front pocket and not worry about scratches, but wont add much bulk to the iPod. :D

I Have to say i'm pretty disappointed with companies like Griffin and Belkin, usually they have these cases released by the launch date (sep 28). I'm pretty sure when the Video and Nano were released they had plenty of cases out right away. This thing and its specifications were announced early september... well enough time. Most ppl like to buy their case right when they get the thing. Not to mention apple not even mentioning ANY cases on their website (just those stupid sock things and some clip kit or something). Sorry to go on... but it just seems like everyone was really unprepared for the official launch date. Its kinda dissapointing.

Hey Fearless - any update on how the ORION Sleeve Pouch Case is? I'm suspecting that it may not have arrived yet.

Also, when mine was delivered it had the part number of the iPhone case, IPH-123. The maunfacturer's part number for the Touch case is IP-565. When I contacted the manufacturer, Incipio, as well as the distributor, mygearstore.com, they both stated that the dimensions of the iPhone and Touch are the same and that the IPH-123 case will work just as well with the Touch. We all know that the Touch is much thinner, so that's why I'm wondering hoe yours is. Please let me know the part number when yours arrives.

Does anybody know how the Shield Zone scratch guard is applied? I was reading on guardfilm.com and it says for their product you have to wet it down before applying and that kinda worries me. I think it is some kind of adhesive and that's what keeps me off this choice. I'd want to have the choice to remove it someday. I heard that it's a pain to install, and if you want to remove it, it could leave residues, which is out of the way for me ..

Read some reviews on the internet first to make your opinion !

I did receive the Orion case on Friday - just have been to busy to post until now. Anyhow, it looks exactly as I'd hoped - simple and attractive, yet effective. The case is leathery and not too slippery. It comes in eight different colors - I opted for the black. Again, this is marked as being for the iPhone, but it's as perfect a fit as you could get for the Touch. $16 shipped on EBay (I got mine in 2 days). Includes a 1 year warranty from Incipio. Of course it will add thickness, but it shouldn't add too much. probably less than half a milimeter in both directions. That is the case i was looking forward too. I emailed Griffin, and they said it wouldn't be available until the end of this month, although they said that it isn't "set in stone" so it could come out later than anticipated.

I bought some of these ipod socks at walmart. They are samsonite brand and you get 6 for $4.88 (grey, blue, black, green, pink and orange) They fit perfect and are I found them in the ipod section in the electronics.

I dropped my Touch yesterday from standing height. Tried to save it with my foot. Ended up sliding along the tiles for about 1m on the glass side. Good thing I haven't taken the plastic (original) off yet. The only blemishes are on each of the corners, the black glass has a white tint now, as if it had scratched paint off.
So I went into my 15yr old son's room and took the leather pouch he had for his 80gig iPod Video. The Touch fits beautifully albeit with the iPod scroll wheel and screen cutouts. Protected from further drops!

I have been using an iPod sock. It does the trick but it looks kinda gay. The case that came with my 30G video also seems to work fine. If nothing else you could allways make one out of duct tape.

Just use the old ipod video/classic sleeve the on made out of leather/felt, Fits perfect =).....

Hi, I've just wondered, the ipod touch is a touchscreen - but when you take that scratch proof thing on, the Shieldzone (http://www.shieldzone.com/item_description/APIPTOUCHFB.html), will you still be able to use it just as good with that on?

It's amazing to see so many manufacturers making slip cases that don't take into account the headphone jack's location. A slip case won't be functional to have your headphones plugged in. And if there IS a hole for the headphones, know you'll be plugging/unplugging them everytime you want to remove your device.

Being on the bottom of the iPod touch, anyone who buys one of these cases is going to get very frustrated when they realize this.

I have a problem with my Shieldzone case. I got a haircut the day I was installing it and I got a hair and some other dust on the front screen and there wasn't anything I could do about it (installation lasted 2 hours), so the screen isn't perfectly clear any more. Shieldzone has a 30 day money back guarantee that I already e-mailed them for and they granted it. Does anybody think I should return it and buy a new one (or a different case) or just live with it and stop complaining?

One caveat with Krusell is they use a nylon clip system that can break real easy if you're rough and tumble like I am with my electronics. I recommend their more durable clip system if you go with them.

I think I like the TechStyle most (particularly because you can take it out of the case and dock with ease). I would likely use an InvisibleShield plus this case because of the beltclip and its better protection. I'm not 100% sure if I prefer the DLO or the Speck though....

I dont see the point in making my itouch any bulkier by getting a case especially when the screen is "unscratchable". At least the gelaskin will protect the back, imo the only part needing protection.

The SeeThru is made of polycarbonate plastic. It's a hard, translucent plastic that is very durable and virtually shatter-proof.

Some of the cases on here look pretty nice, but does anyone make a case with a space to hold the earphones and USB umbilical cable, too? Those things are too easily lost for my taste.

I made a case for my iPod out of a moleskine! I love it because it was free and it protects my iPod pretty well, and since I live in a city with quite a bit of crime it's nice that it isn't apparent that I have an iPod. At any rate, it was fun to make.

i have one for my blackberry pearl and it works great. buy a few and when you do drop it, if the skin gets gashed, just slap the new one on. for $7 its a steal.

I just received my inCase leather sleeve (with belt clip) for my iPod touch and it's beautiful!

It fits really well and I only have a couple of small issues with it.

1. The area around the headphone jack is a slight bit off...not too much of an issue with standard issue iPod headphones (although a little wiggling is necessary for a solid fit)...but with other headphones it may be a little harder to get them to fully fit into the device, if the rubber area above the actual pin of the headphone jack is large.

2. The perfect window around the screen is great, but sometimes it's hard to access buttons on the lower corners of the screen.

Since it's leather it will probably be possible for me to get it to stretch a tiny bit to get rid of both issues..so I'd give it a 9 out of 10.

I don't know, so I just emailed them and asked that question and also if the glitter and crystal options are available to I Touch like they are for the iphone. I'll post the answer when they send their response.

I have yet to see a real durable sporty itouch case.

For my vid ipod i bought a case from ifrogz.com it was amazing, had a belt clip. i could drop this thing from the second floor and it would be fine. But for some reason they decided not to have a belt clip with their new itouch cases. Im just a college student so i walk outside a lot and goto the gym so thats why i wanted a real durable one, a pretty one just wont do me any good.

the zcovers are nice but they dont look like theyd give much protection in a fall.

i like those TUFF cases but they dont look like they have a clip either.

I found this thread searching for this same item as this is the one I'm thinking of getting. I'd love to find a silicone case with a similar belt clip but have yet to see one. I love that this one has the slimline belt clip (I HATE the plastic ones). One question though... does this seller charge reasonable shipping? I've been to some sites that charge an exorbitant amount for similar lightweight items... just wondering. I have a spending limit and if case + shipping exceeds it, I'll have to keep looking. LOL

Need some advise here. If I were to get a silicon case, is it still necessary to get the invisible shield for the back?

I spoke to the people at Belkin. Since the case hasn't been released yet, the CS guy didn't know if it had any kind of closure. He did say taht there is a clear screen built into the case to protect the Touch and that their other folios had either a light magnetic strip closure or snap and he thought this one would have something as well.

I also found this one by ezGear. I don't know if it comes in any other colors. It's not even on their website. Available Sept. 26th.

yo that is sweet but does it have the opening for the light sensor thing..? cause i know that a lot of cases dont have those and i didn't see it on the website.

i'm currently using the DLO Jam Jacket..
it works great, and has 'The Earbud Management System' on the back:
i love it, but the only thing that i kinda dislike is that the 'The Earbud Management System' makes your Touch thicker in your pocket, so there's no use for it to be so slim... but if you don't mind that, this case is great!
