Ok, i just got antsy and can confirm that the screen on this thing is SOLID AS A Friggin ROCK!
i took screwdrivers, keys, and a steak knife to it, and not a single scratch!
i am amazed at the quality of the glass they used!
however, the back is the same chrome, so it scratches like an ice rink in a matter of weeks.

I connected my iPoT to my PC and all was well...enjoyed dumping music on to it, etc...BUT then it fell asleep...so i woke it up with a flick of the finger and there it is...the crappy, hazy, grainy screen that i so feared after reading article after article about "a few iPod Touches having a screen issue"
Well, i went to the store and they won't take it back because i bought it online...so i just talked to those folks and they want me to ship mine back and then wait for a new one.
Oh Joy.
I still can't connect to my home network despite entering the password and getting a "checkmark" i get some msg about not being able to "find the server"
geeeeeeeeesh

you got nothing to worry about, its like using a razor blad to remove a sticker from your windshield. steel wont damage glass, as glass is harder than steel.
you have nothing to worry about, keys, cell phone, other pocket stuff aint got shit on your new ipods screen

yeah, the back is just lik all the other iPods out there: ice skating rink within weeks.
just be careful, and avoid setting it down anywhere hard.

i am amazed at the quality of the glass they used!
Glass is always difficult to scratch. Take a steaknife against your living room window, and you'll see.
The difference is the presence of glass as opposed to a durable plastic. Glass is harder than most metals, while plastic & plexiglass is softer... hence scratches.

i know, but it is sooo thin and very good glass in general. not the type of glass you would use on a glass table, seems better than that

I can assure you guys of two things:
1) If you you are trying to show off your dance moves to impress a lady at some bar, and the iPod flies out of your SweatShirt pocket, slides across the barroom floor, under the pool table, and almost gets stepped on, that it will be okay without so much as a scratch.
2) After way too much imbibing, if you were to pass out onto the asphalt and accidently throw your iPod down into the ground while doing it, then it will survive without so much as a scratch.
How do I know this: personal experience.
nintendodude
09-23-2007, 09:12 PM
without so much as a glass?
well, that is assuming that the screen doesnt shatter from the impact.
what if, perhaps, you are at a bowling alley and some cumbersome ninkimpoop drops a 14 Lbs. bowlin' ball on your iPoT, will a magical spring of justice "spring" forth from the iPoTs screen and defend it whiilst screaming the national anthem? i didnt think so!
better invest in one of those magical cases.

so do the plastic cover for old ipod videos work on the ipod touch? On the back..
nintendodude
09-24-2007, 08:17 AM
probably not, the iPoT is a bit longer than the older ipods.... i doubt that they would work correctly
