I would have liked to see the freaking iPod-Audiobook problem. It doesn't remember its place, even when I tell it to and it replays from the same place even if I drag it 3hrs in, it just skips back to like 2 minutes immediately every time. This has been a problem since 1.x.

Apparently you only pay when going from 2.* to 3.1.1.. If you are already on 3.0 you won't be charged $5 more. The update charges are only made when going to a completely new firmware, e.g. 1.* -> 2.* -> 3.*

Also the speed of the iPhone 3.1 surprised me.. a lot sleeker and obviously the code has been tweaked up.

One other nice tweak was the cleaning up the bluetooth - WiFi interference issue. Both now run simultaneously without issue.

my phone turns off at least %75 faster than before, i used to look at that swirling thing for ages, but now it just turns of instantly, also booting is much faster. still dont think this update warrants a new version though... there are hardly any upgrades, app store genius is crap too.

$5 is relative... maybe you find that a breeze to pay for but others may not.

Okay is Genius Mixes working for you?
It advertises it on the Apple 3.1 description page, but i don't see any change to the music in Music. U can see a Genius tab, but its not available on my ipod.

I dunno why but the 3.1 firmware messed up the arrangement of ALL the Smart Playlists when syncing from iTunes to the 'Pod... Just did a restore and the songs + apps are being synced accordingly...

Everything else about 3.1 is alright though, including the one where the touch's icons can be arranged via iTunes! :)
