so i would need to hit "backup" then upgrade to 3.1, then jailbreak, then d/l aptbackup and hit restore?

heh. once i can get some stuff straight i can finish my iphoneimager which will incorporate aptbackup.


dont worry, once it's out you will never have to worry about backing up again.


EDIT: by the way, if u guys wanna figure out how to work aptbackup, try reading the script that installs with it that gets run. most people can read bash, might give you an idea of how exactly to do it right.

aptbackup didnt work for me either... and i updated my ipod touch 1st generation... it worked till the picture of the hard drive with the green arrow on it... then it froze so i did a hard reset and it rebooted but didnt jailbreak it... (redsn0w 0.8) (tried for FW:3.1)

redsn0w won't work on 3.1 it's useless to even try it.

pkgBackup works great I tried it on one of my 3.0 restores and didn't lose any apps.

do you need to restore your ipod to un-jailborken 3.0 before updating? will this keep apt backup from working?

It probably just hid some.
Happened to me.

Just download SBSettings or Poof, and unhide them.
... Or just respring, that will probably bring them back.

It only Backup Cydia App not Reg Apps, Or App Settings Read Before you Click Backup

jbing wont work now, and aptbackup works if you do it right, just dont expect it to be done in under 5 hours lol
