Today I have decided to restore my iPod to a fresh state because iTunes wasn't recognizing. (8 and 9 wouldn't) So, I plugged it in a few minutes again and it gave me the message saying "There's a problem with your iPod, blah blah blah, you must restore it to it's factory settings blah blah blah." So, I click on Restore and it goes through it for about a minute and gives me an error saying it can't be restored. Now, I have the Connect to iTunes logo on my iPod but iTunes 9 doesn't recognize it. Also, my iPod won't let me DFU. When I hold the home button down and connect the cord, nothing happens. It just goes back to the connect screen. Ugh. Help please.
[EDIT]
Apparently, my IPSW is also corrupted.

Did you try DFU with these steps?
1. Hold Home + Power for 10 seconds
2. Let go of Power, keep holding Home for 7 seconds
If yes, I got nothing. :(
You have to be precise with the timing.
@catfreak: Why post if you don't know the answer? 0_o. Oh well.

Experiment. I used Quickfreedom to save my iPod. Once I clicked "Start Pre-Jailbreak" the screen goes white and iTunes restored it like normal. Although that was back in 2.2.1 on a iPod 2g(I said this because you dont have ipod details below your avatar).
Good Luck!

I restored it on my old comp to 2.2.1 and 9 recognized it fucking fine. Now the god damn program doesn't recognize it after trying to update to 3.1.1.
[EDIT]
Okay. Tried something different this time. Made sure iTunes was closed, my iPod was off and not connected. I held the home button down till the Recovery icon came up and opened iTunes to find that it accepted it in Recovery mode and is now restoring and updating to 3.1.1. If I get any errors, I'll update.
[EDIT2]
Got 1604 Error so I decided to try something new again. I decided turning iTunes on and it recognized my iPod in recovery! Yippee! So I shift clicked restore. So, right now, it's about half-way "Restoring iPod"
[EDIT3]
Successful Restore! :D
Remember Kids, When All Else Fails, SHIFT RESTORE.
