It's self-explanatory. The new version works with both iTunes 9 and iPod firmware 3.1.1 (jailbroken, probably works with unjailbroken 3.1 as well).

Downloaded this earlier today, and I love it =] A lot better than SSH, IMO. But strangely, iFunbox says that "iTunes Database on this device is not recognizable." Any ideas?

That's normal. Apple made some changes a while ago to the iTunes music database that iFunBox can't resolve. You used to be able to sync music and videos to your device over iFunBox, but not any more and it's unlikely to be a feature they'll be able to incorporate in the future. Thus the message.

I think the only Mac solution is DiskAid, which you have to pay for and only copies to a folder that the FileAid app can access.

iFunbox is the best ssh over USB program by far!! I use it daily for anything & mostly everything I need done on my iPhone! Highly recommended for noobs!
It's the only program I've used that show icons rather than just names when updating themes! Which is really useful!
Good job studdangerous on the review!
I actually found out about ifunbox by you, so I know you must like a lot too if it's in your sig!!!

Yes you can... it also accesses the open file system on jailed iDevices... i use it for syncing comics and other zipped image files to /Media/Photos/iComic on my jailed iPhone.

The new update of iFunbox says that I'm running OS 2.2.1 jailbroken. Weird, cuz I'm running 3.3.1, unjailbroken on a 2nd generation iPod touch.
Is this happening to anyone else?
Also I heard some people saying that they are running the 3.3.1 software (or it may be the 3.1 on the iPhone), but they are jailbroken :S. How is this possible? I thought greenpois0n wasn't out as yet. Weird.

probably just a software botch

There's a Dev Team Pwnage tool to build a custom jailbroken OS3.1 .ipsw, though it's Mac only and only works with iPod touch 1G and iPhone 2G & 3G.
I think Greenpois0n is still some way off. Chronic Dev are still working on the exploit.

Is there any alternative to sync music that's on your ipod touch to iTunes?

I meant for stuff I will actually need it for. Only things an unjailed iPod can do.

What are you talking about? I use iFunbox as my main SSH program. I just don't need it unless my iPod is jailbroken, since I can no longer access my music library from iFunbox to back it up.

Make sure iTunes is closed to start off with. Does that help?

Noooo... don't kill the iTunes processes. When you run iFunBox just make sure that the iTunes program itself isn't running but all the normal iTunes background processes are (i.e. don't stop them!). iFunBox relies on some of the iTunes processes to correctly access your device and can't access them if iTunes is already using them.

That rumour would be true. iFunBox requires some itunes background services to be running to work so you will need an iTunes installation for it to work.

try this
You must create a directory called /ifunbox (or what you want). Put inside the executable of ifunbox you downloaded and then copy into the same directory the file called iTunesMobileDevice.dll that you find at C:\Program Files\Common Files\ Apple\ Mobile Device Support \ bin\
If you want you can create a link on the desktop of the exe file of ifunbox .

so with ifunbox can i sync music and videos over it and it rearranges them as itunes does? if so, then thats cool. (waiting for ocnfirmation before i hit the DL)
if not then is there any other program thatdoes that aside from itunes? like if i want to grab some songs from my friends pc but my itouch is synced to my pc and if i do that it will erase my current songs. is there a way or a program that does that with out erasing previously synced songs?

Not really. Best to use iTunes to organise music and videos, as since iTunes 8 iFunBox hasn't been set up to correctly interpret the music and video db files.

oh thats sad. so going back to my question, what if i want to grab songs from my friend? the problem there is that when i connect my ipod to sync his music on mine, itunes detects that my itouch is synce to a different computer and will erase current songs and videos if i continue.. how do i go about syncing it instead anyways and not worrying about it? or any other program?
thanks for the reply btw sir. appreciate your help.

You could just download iFunbox on your friend's computer, use your iPod as a USB mass storage device, and when you get home, transfer the files from your iPod to iTunes and then sync them, that way you're still synced with your own library and you also added new music.
