What would you like to see in the tablet? Hardware wise and software.

I would like a Snow Leopard style just because the iphone thing isnt very easy to use as a full computer.

If this did not include flash or have a external keyboard/mouse I would stop buying from apple ASAP

I would like to see it, first of all.

Then I'll discuss what I want to see in it.

iPhone OS like, no external KB, no Flash. So Childofgod won't buy it. So he won't ever buy from Apple.

I know I know, this will never happen, but I'd like to see it compete with the netbook market, as in a price under $600 ...

I would like to see innovation. I want it to be a device that is between a smartphone and a laptop. i want it to run a iphone-like OS on it, but with more features.

MOST IMPORANT of all, I want to be able to JAILBREAK IT!!!

^i agree on the innovation part. the ipod touch blew my mind.
i dont want iphone OS or the jailbreakable part. i like to keep more expensive stuff cleaner/stock.

(but before you flame me for all my earlier posts on me hating the tablet idea, i dont want a tablet at all, im just adding to the discussion.

only reason id like a tablet pc is for graphic design, so id like it to be able to run photoshop/illustrator etc nicely, i want apple tablet cause apple do nice screens and if they use same screen as iphone, the sensitivity will be awesome lol :P.
I know i can get a graphics tablet, but being able to draw straight onto the screen and stuff is much more appealing :P

I do like the idea of a tablet. I would want it to be running 10.6+ with iPhone-like interaction with the screen. Of course, video-chat, and 3G capable. I do not want the tablet to come with a contract. How about prepaid data? 40G of data for $40? Pay only for what you use. An unlimited data plan would have to be astronomical to support a device that would download gigs at a time.

As far as tablets go, I had an IBM Think-pad and never really used its capabilities. I think the tablet idea is good, but I doubt it will be as huge as iPhone/iPod touch.

Oh, yeah... It might be really useful to run xCode and iPhone simulator. Developing on the tablet could be really fun.

And Jailbreaking? Well this really means enabling root user privileges. You can access root on any Unix machine, so "jailbreaking" won't really be necessary! Of course there will be mods and hacks.

Alright well the thing is this. The tablet needs to be less than 800 dollrs because netbooks sell for less than 600 dollars and theyre a full computer so I think an oversized iPod Touch really shouldn't go THAT much more than a macbook.

It needs to allow 3G, EDGE, WiFi and MOST OF ALL, they need to allow you to add SOME sort of wired ethernet port so you can get hi-speed instead of just crappy wireless.

They also need to make sure they have different types of wireless components like Wifi, 3G, Edge, Bluetooth and Infrared sort of deal like other devices so there'll be many possibilities for multiplayer games and interacting with other peoples devices.

They need to add support so it can interact with other idevices (to a certain point of course)

I also think that they need to make SURE it has USB slots or SOME sort of slot of their own kind so they can add additional components like cameras, keyboards, mice, and all sorts of other things.

i hate macs with a passion and basically the only device i actually like from apple, hell the only THING i like from apple is basically the idevices so far. i dont want a crappy leopard OS bullshit (Excuse my language) but i just hate the way it looks and everything about it

they need to make SURE they allow the apps on there ALONG with more advanced things so they can make a lot higher quality apps and all that

theres just so many things it needs to include i cant possibly list em all but they are all EASILY possible or already there

im not being an idiot and asking for things that wouldnt fit like holograms or crap

i think that interacting with other devices is what makes things fun

im happy about the fact that there are more and more interactive co op games coming out on the app store and im really disappointed by how some of them dont offer bluetooth support. im also really saddened by the fact that they dont have any infrared or whatever the black laser things are like on gameboys and psp and stuff as thats a nice feature to have because you shouldnt HAVE to have some wireless service that cuts out on you out of nowhere

I would like to see a way to add more storage, not by sd card, but by actual hdd. So I would like it to be quite customizable in hardware term, and quite repairable as well, like a normal laptop. I would also like a stand, where you can just take it out, plug a portible keyboard and mouse, and your off like a normal desktop pc. Also it will be great to be very thin. Say they use an OLED screen.
Here's my specs I would like for 1400 pounds:

1.0 Ghz quad core intel core 2 4mb cache
nvidia 9400 mobile graphics.
40gb hdd (40gb-250gb)
normal disk drive. (blueray optional)
sd card slot.
HD 10.5 Organic LED touch screen
HD Dolby digital audio.
Standerd apple aluminium finish.
4x USB 3.0
1x FireWire port
audioout and mic in
silent heatsink cooling.
