Hey guys, just wanted to show you a logo that I made and wanted to get your opinions on it. I know that the text is a little hard to read, and I'm working to fix this, but I just wanted to get any preliminary thoughts and opinions.

(The picture is pretty large and takes a while to load, since I like to make pictures large then shrink them down in order to preserve quality).

Way cool! The only thing that isn't that pleasing to me is the red+black lettering of "iPod touch fans".. it has this scary feeling to it =S

What sort of colors are you thinking? I was considering a blue or greenish.

I personally think it looks a little busy. I like more "slick + modernish" things like the current logo which I do adore. But looks nice.

just go with wutever colors, im not creative so i cant help :p but yea a bluish and green would "compliment" the logo nicely :)

the second version is great.. the first one is good to but i like the second one...

I thought the first one was great but i like the second one even better!
i like the blue lightning effect better and it makes the apps more visible.

Bit of a misunderstand, are you talking about my logo or the current logo?

Just a suggestion, but perhaps the words could be a different colour from the background so it doesn't appear camouflaged? It might look better.. or might not

Danls urs is good but this is one is f***in great. if u could really focus on this it would look amazing. probally take out the we own you part, seems a little odd, i dont wanna get raped....

wow I like it a lot just the txt is a bit hard to read otherwise it awsome

Maybe I'm being too critical, but I don't really like it too much. The dark colors with the lightninish background make it look a little too epic for a nice forum and community. To be honest, I don't find the font very attractive either, maybe a little too italisized or titlted in a way. It's pretty hard to read. It's also very easy to tell that you just added the default values for the old "Texturizer" filter on the whole picture, nothing very fancy.

However, I really like the idea of a transition from a regular iPod to an obviously jailbroken one with a page full of applications.

Sorry if I sound a little mean, I'm not trying to be. I just wouldn't want this as a banner for iPod touch fans. =X I suggest playing around a little more in Photoshop before posting another banner. The overall feel of this banner makes it seem like a new Photoshop artist drew it.

EDIT: I just saw that you just started using Photoshop less than a week ago... that explains a lot. Heh.

Higuy, I would love to do the logo, but A) They just redid it, B) I can't fit anything into 348x100, and C) I like the logo. Though, they could easily be sued for copyright infringement (I believe) for taking the default Desktop and turning it into their logo...

Haha. You mean signature? Not exactly Acid2, but it's the closest thing I could get to a picture as my signature. Especially when the limit is 11x4 pixels... >_<

Think that the banners look fairly good, but I think that there should be something like an ipod touch in coverflow that fades out to black and turned sideways as to fit in the top banner.

By the way why is there no default leopard page background when ipodtouchfans.com looked more like TUAW back in October or so? I liked that.

Well, i had another go, and I tried to emulate the current logo. Instead of using Apple's vortex, I made my own and made the stars vibrant in a pattern. It's not done but I don't know what else to do with it....

Cool, But those arent logos dudes. Those are Banners, Logo is something like Nike's check mark. Or Apples, apple.. etc.

Danls92 I like your logo but I am not a big fan of the font you are using :( probably is you use one more tech like the one Virtualball is using? I like the one that is already in use, probably make the background less busy in the sides? like the way it is in the actual logo, like fading away sideways... hope I am explaining myself had too much coffee today lol gotta go to work!!!

Well I think that these are all pretty good. With Dansl92's maybe you should decrese some of the lighting and also maybe put like a semi-transparent pointing arrow at the bottom. (Like this is the old gay iPod then - Arrow - This is your new jailbroke iPod!)

The background is dull and has almost nothing to it, the text is distorted and ugly. The render's of the ipods are distorted and badly mis-shapen. I mean its great that your trying, but its just not up to par for the site banner. Sorry for being harsh ><.

Nah, I wouldn't have posted if I didn't want criticism. I'm just getting aquanted with Photoshop, and I'm still developing my "style." Thank you to everybody that has commented, you've really helped me improve :)

I agree with crazy. Join up on some graphics community and do some reading, look at some tutorials get some renders, fonts and mess around. Get the basic's done even if you have to copy tutorials exactly thats fine you will get your style later.
