Here's how I see it:

If you want good graphics and a thriving homebrew community, go with the PSP.

If you want good games, although with worse graphics, go with the DS.

the psp is a powerful device with good graphics, addicting (not necessarily fun), expensive games, lots of homebrew, big screen, mp3 and mp4 player. The DS is a fun little gadget with its touch screen and if u get an r4 card or something like it, you can put homebrew on it and there are some cool apps but nothing compared to the psp. So if u want a device that does it all and does it all while looking amazing, get the psp. If you wanna have fun with games and friends at lower costs, get the ds.

dude, why don't you google R4DS. You will learn its power.

PSP uses UMD, which could mess the game up if you don't use the PSP properly

I have a DS and like it a lot, but I think the PSP is just as good with cool stuff like skype recently and it's getting the ability to download Blu-ray movies from the PS3 soon if not already. The DS is getting something similar on the Wii sometime with free downloadable demos which might be cool.

I have both, PSP has great graphics ( for a hand held), decent list of games.
DS is very cool, get a R4DS card. mario is king hand down
