what would it be like? would you buy it?

I personally think it would be physically BEAUTIFUL, a nice shiny white box with an apple logo on top. It would run amazing graphics, and the controller would have some sort of touch integration. However, I think they would make it too expensive.

Thoughts?

First off it would be great no question about it but I don't think it will ever happen, and I hope it doesn't. Here's why:

Apple is a hardware developer first and foremost, they specialize in creating hardware with short shelf life. This would run counter to their current methodology. I know many people love their ipods and Iphone but Apple always updates their new models and in short time. I could only imagine how quickly the Iplay or Igame or whatever it would be called would be redisgned and new features added. While this is o.k. for some devices the gaming community doesn't need this. Secondly I hope it doesn't happen as it would be a pain in the ass. If you think M$ is tight fisted with their pay for online gaming or updates imagine how Ol Apple would be.

I'd bet that year 1 would see a pretty slick machine something l,ike the ps3 only better, then in 8 moinths we'd hear about a new version of the machine with slightyly better online capabilitiues and clan support or something like that only here's the catch you need to upgrade and the current generation needs to pay more.

Year 2 - New online feature as well as integrated gaming for customized levels standard, followed by a online store for downloading custom lefels and the like for a fee.

Year 2.5 Hints of a new hardware model with a detachable / ipod loadable device that could take the same games on the go.

Year 3 - All new system interface with online communications, ipod connectivity and web all rolled into one. Everyone with system version 1 now wants new system version 2.

Year 3.5 - System version 2.5 announced now with voip and router built right in along with new snazier design. Year 1 device is now a no go for most options, system 2 now need additional apps for a fee to run some of the new stuff offered.

Year 4 - New online gaming area announced with full clan support, seperate game viewing area and leaderboards, along with streaming gaming channels that give you scores of matches in progress and the like. Already installed on new hardware. A nominal fee for existing customers

Year 4.5 - New device announced that runs a virtual console on multiple t.vs from one location for in house multi screen gaming, works flawlessly with online gaming and now has multiple user accounts straming off one i.p for up to 4 people in a household to game at once. New system is smaller and has sleeker interface now called system 3; all previous system owner must sell their system to get these new goodies.

Year 5 - System 3 now has added support for up to 6 players, now has corporate team functions for league gaming and all new tracking software for stats and game behavior. All previous owners will have to pay a nominal fee again for this new software update.

Come to think of it with the exception of the fee's I'd still be half interested in something like this...:D
