iTunes runs fine, it's Vista that's conflicting it. Vista is known to have a lot of incomparability with a lot of the applications out there and I believe MS is still finding a solution for it, especially for Vista64.

I do agree though that iTunes sucks for converting music on Mac or PC, there are better applications out there that does it in better quality.

There are tons of alternatives to iTunes out there such as YamiPod, etc. I personally use Windows Vista and have no problems whatsoever.

But are there any iTunes alternatives that can sync with an iPod Touch?

On the YamiPod download page, it states: "iPhone and iPod touch were not tested (consider them incompatible)"

I'd be interested in an alternative as well. itunes is garbage.

None yet since you cannot use touch as a storage device. One thing i was thinking of was like a program that can sync through ssh. This might be very slow though.

I downloaded free trial version of touchcopy and it detected my ipod touch. Looks promising as itune alternative for touch. You can search this from download.com. I haven't got a chance to try using it yet.

That's an unfounded statement. OS vendors build their products around a standard set of APIs (Application Programatic Interfaces) when the OS vendor changes the API, applications either break or run poorly.

Vista changed many of the APIs which have broken a number of XP compatible applications. Don't blame Apple for Microsoft's issues (not that Apple doesn't have their own issues to deal with).

According to its website, it only transfers the music to Itunes.

I don't think we need to be able to use it as a storage device, or even go through ssh. Programs like iBrickr transfer files to a j/b'ed iPoT just fine, so I think it's just a matter of time before someone codes an alternative to iTunes. I doubt that there will ever be an alternative for non jailbroken iPoTs though...
