Why? It takes up space and can be distracting. It also limits spammers, it's really all for the good of the site. You can use it to add text. You also can have an avatar. I think an avatar and text based signature is enough. Some forums do not even allow avatars until 1000 posts.

also, if you have earned the right to be a Mod, you get special benefits such as images in the signature. simple as that. if everyone were allowed images, it would get out of hand and inappropriate images would be a huge problem.

What's funny is I was talking with someone through private messaging, and that person stated that even before you guys became moderators, that you were pushing people around than too. Kinda find that funny.

I just reread this thread. There's nothing contradictory about his posts. He says it limits Spammers. The chances of a Mod spamming are very slim.

If signature images were open to everybody, then all the people and bots that come onto the site to spam could very easily clutter the place up and make it much less pleasant to be here.

I don't think its fair. Do you actually have a button to add images or does someone tell you how to add it a special way? It would be a lot better to have an image in my sig. I had to put 2 images together for my avatar. I don't find it fair at all.

We have an option to add a picture with the [IMG] tag, or through a different option.

I believe it is completely fair. It keeps the clutter down, it prevents some degree of spam, and it gives us mods a special little thing. Given how much time we put into keeping the forums clean, and answering requests, I believe it is a nice little "thank you."

you guys, I dont think its a real problem because, I used to be a member of whereisit.org before it got shut down by admins, it was great to have pictures in you sig bwcause people got creative in photoshop and made some really good ones. It was good for the community.

Mods get signature images as a privilige. While personally I don't think anyone should have signature images because they seriously downgrade the readability, this is the way it is.

How do you become a mod? I'm not saying that I can be a mod because I can most certainly NOT. I just wanted to know what it takes.

You need to help people out, be a responsible member, and contribute to the community.

Yup, this was changed a while ago. People with more than 4 lines kept their entire sig until they edited it, which is why some people still have long sigs.

That was a113524c. Who is a super moderator. I believe he has since removed the image.
