Microsoft Zune 2 is coming out! With a touchpad! It's so going to crush all of Apple's new line of iPods..... right.... Just to add insult to injury, if Apple were to do something on Zune's release date to weaken their sales and further boost already topping-the-chart-70%-market-share-best-media-player-all-around devices, what would it be?

Nothing, apple does not need to release anything, the zune is no threat in my opinion. Yeah, their market share might raise a couple percent, but that is not enough for apple to start worrying. Microsoft would have to come up with something revolutionary to give apple competition, it seems like the zune is just a side project right now.

I agree, apple has intoduced a couple of revolutionary products like the ipod touch :D, the iphone etc., and i dont think microsoft will ever be as good as apple :D

the new zune does not look pleasant, all that brushing and the dark annoying interface would give me a headache, microsoft failed miserably :-/

There is a "touch pad"? It's not built into the screen? Zune 2 is not worth it... I highly doubt it would be even as good as the iPod Classic. I doubt the Zune will be internet ready anytime soon. (or if it is then its still not as good as the ipod lineup)

Basically, it is one large touch button, that responds in certain ways if you press that one big round, flat button on the sides, top and bottom, etc. It really doesn't look that great. It is also not flat, but it is literally, a button, so it is bumped out of the unit. Yes, it does make the unit look kinda ugly. At least its thinner.

But we dont even know how the new interface works (Im sure with all the negative response theyll change it). We dont know how bulky it is in size we know nothing about it. Why would you need to sync from your car? Its not like your music collection changed from when you left the door to when you got into your car. Plus, is that possible?

There are PLENTY of reviews of the Zune 2 interface, It's apparently better, but still a bit needlessly complicated, and I've even held a Zune 2 dummie (courtesy of my friend at Microsoft) and they're pretty chunky still.

we do know what the interface looks like and how it works,we do know how big it is. Micrososoft released the specs along time ago, and we've all seen pics and videos of it working, so get your facts straight

Microsoft could have made it look so much cooler if it wasn't a "mole"/button sticking out. HOWEVER, they knew that if they made the button flat, people would think that it was too similar to the iPod and they were ripping off of them, so Microsoft decided to go with the uglier design by making the button stick out. Bad choice.

To be honest. The new Zune will be yesterdays technology. They are releasing this product come Nov. ? Apple by Jan. will have a new product line. The Zune 2 has everything that new ipods have already. I think this Zune 2 will blow up just as much as the original turd colored Zune did for like a couple weeks.

Apple has the MP3 player market share by the nuts. Face it. The best decision for Apple was to open the front doors of the Ipods for the PC world. I can't say much for the greedy bastards at MS which won't even make the Zune or Zune 2 compatible on a mac. Unless of course you wanna use bootcamp or the crappy vista to import songs on it.

The iPod classic is called " Classic " for a reason. The reason being that eventually Apple will discontinue the " Classic " and the iPod Touch will be the real deal. It's only a matter of time.. and Apple is one step ahead.

Having had the original zune (i know...mistake!!) the iPoT will kick the ass of anything that M$ produce. IMO apple has the market, and it will be almost impossible to take it back.

Yeah I agree. Microsoft's plan is really going to backfire this time. I mean they have and 80gb zune, apple has a 160gb classic. Apple has a huge lead, also in the fact like someone else noted that apple is compatible with both microsoft and apple computers. Whereas zune is only compatible with microsoft (unless you can dual boot a mac). The apple ipods are much clearer and have much better resolution than zunes.

yea, the zune stinks compared to the touch. The Zune has always stunk, and probably always will. The iPoT is 10x ahead of Microshit in the MP3 player industry. They should only be worrying about comming out with Vienna some time soon, and not making it crap.

There is no pmp(portable music player) out on the market right now that ever comes close to the nano in my opinion, Apple is just so innovative and about keeping things updated...

When i had a nano it never broke or nothing and thats saying something cuz i treated the zune better.

Idk bout that im not saying the Zune was complete garbage because i did love it for the 2 months it was working perfect but I just always thought iPod had more of an edge IMO. But either way I know when i get my iPod touch im gonna think its the only mp3 player out there.

Besides Windows MEdia PLayer would be a lot harder for someone buying their first mp3 player to understand, whereas itunes is easy to use.

The Zune shouldn't even be compared to the Ipot or Iphone for obvious reasons, but it can easily compete against the regular iPod line.

It has everything the iPod has and more. Also, from the looks of it, it has just as nice of an interface, that is just as user friendly, that just works. The biggest marketing area iPods have.
