i tried my best making a tmobile thing...but i did my best

I have a touch, so I just put my name as the carrier, it looks classy, like a business card, you should try it!

Man, your desktop looks so cluttered, you should go into summerboard and get rid of the third row... I don't get how people can have it so cluttered, it'd drive me nuts.

I also have a theory anyone with the NES app just has it for show, since it's a shitty and hard to control emulator. The apps on here kind of remind me of facebook, I'm constantly adding and deleting in my search for the perfect package with everything I need...

Really? I cant stand it when their all rainbow and mix matched icons. Ive tried pretty much every theme and this was one of two i could tolerate.

The whole point is to make it look like an iPhone, especially if you add the modified phone app. :D It's an iPhone to the dreamers.
Personally, I thought that the Verizon one was funny (in a good way that is). They even put the signal bars as green, which all of the newer phones have. Well done I thought.

How do I open these files? Photoshop can't open them, neither can IrfanView or the built in Windows viewer.

I've created a simple Radiohead carrier icon. Both white (Springboard) and black versions are attached, even though you probably can't see the white one.

How to create your own carrier image:

1) You need Photoshop.
2) Download this: http://www.fnordware.com/superpng/SuperPNG_v1.1_win.zip . This replaces the normal PNG file format plugin Photoshop uses.
3) Navigate to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS3\Plug-Ins\File Formats [Or the equivalent if you have CS2, CS, etc.]
4) Remove the "Png.8bi" file from this directory. Place the SuperPNG.8bi file from the ZIP inside this directory.
5) Start Photoshop.
6) The image must be on a transparent background, and resolution must be: Height 20, Width less than 200. DPI: 72.
7) Create an image. Hit Save As.
8) DISABLE the color profile! Save as SuperPNG. DISABLE "Save Metadata"!

This worked for me. By the way, I used the font Myriad Pro.

Hi have done as you suggested and can change my image...the only problem I have is that when I save it the background doesn't stay as transparent it becomes white! Please can you help? Thanx

....sorry just solved it...I was flattening the file before saving and that was the problem!

set permission to 0755?
is the extension .png or .PNG? I understand it should be .png

I even have 2 different carrier icons, one for home screen and application.

I would suggest you turn the touch off and on again.

/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/FSO_CARRIER_IPOD.png
for the image on the home screen

/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/Default_CARRIER_IPOD.png
for the image when you are in an application

The carrier png should be 20px high, and 60px wide recommended.

Set a picture as a background (the regular way).
Now turn off the Theme Wallpaper in SummerBoard.
Done.

Did you make sure you used caps when renaming your files such as FSO_CARRIER_IPOD.png , the first time i did it i didnt use caps and it didnt show and after i changed it to that it did, hope it helps

I think that the EDGE icon is apart of the Verizon icon. He just squeezed it in with it. It's all one image. I could be wrong though.

png file with an alpha channel. use photoshop and its save for web and devices function to create a png with transparency. if you dont own the original artwork (in vector or hires bitmap) and only have the one you posted, it'll be difficult.

just right click and save it. make sure it saves as a png (the file name should end in .png and for file type choose 'all files') then renames it the correct names and put it in ur ipod. rename the black icon Default_CARRIER_IPOD.png and the white one FSO_CARRIER_IPOD.png . FTP into your ipod and go to
/System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app/, then put the icons in, replacing them with the old ones. Remember to set permissions to 755. Then reboot your ipod and you're all set!

Hello, the font you need is called coolvetica. Its a free clone of helvetica. I used it to make those rainbow images earlier in this thread.

Theres 2 because sometimes the title bar is light coloured, and sometimes its dark coloured, and having a different image for each means it doesn't crappy when it changes :D

The white image is for the main menu and the dark one is for when you are in an app. This is because the menu uses a dark bar at the top and the apps use a light gray one.

For no reason at all, i'm going to put up a very slightly different carrier image than my last one. The rainbow is at 45 degrees and not straight like the other one. That's my own WiFi image, too, if anyone wants it.

photoshop is around..like limewire or whatever else you can use to download things. it make carrier images you just start with a transparent square 20 px high and go from there
