What do you think woulld happen if we did this:

1) Run Install.app to send the iPod into Recovery Mode. Of course it will hang up, requiring an itunes restore.
2) INSTEAD of running an iTunes Restore, run any one of the iPhone unBrickers.
3) Install iPhone firmware outside of itunes, ie one of the many ways that are listed in the Hackint0sh fora.

Any thoughts of whether or not this would work?

Could this work...I'm afraid to try it. I don't want to brick my iPoT and completely flush $420 down the toilet. =[

I'd do it if I wasn't having a Weekend long DrunkFest. down in Hartford. I'm leaving after work today and going straight there. That's why I was looking for info eysterday. If nobody here has tried it by Monday, then I will do it then. If it bricks, I'll just get another one. What's $400 between friends?

yeah, but is there really a way to brick it ? Cant you just plug it into ITUNEs, and restore it? When you say brick, what comes on the screen? What shows up on iTunes? is there a way to get back into restore mode after its supposdely bricked? or is it bricked for good?

And when you say bricked, do you mean the OS was wiped out, firmware damaged? ETC?

I'll try it, but I need to know the exact happenings of when it's "bricked" and if there is anyway to actually unbrick it.

Bricked really just refers to it being useless, unable to restore it...I haven't really heard much about not being able to restore it. Give it a try if you are up to it.

well speaking of "possibly wasting money" seen that you tube vid (http://youtube.com/watch?v=kzbxpSwDetk) of the dude taking like a razor blade, keys and a needle to the touch's front glass screen?

hmmm suprisingly no damage to the screen....anyway sorry for rambling...but look at the vid if you havent
