I'm somehow confused whether i'll buy the iPod touch or an iPhone.

I know both can me modded and such, but that's not my point.

I also want to go on the internet anytime.
especially at school, without getting the school's internet
and found out that most websites are blocked because of the filter system.

..but, how fast is the EDGE network?
i've been hearing its pretty slow. or whatnot

But, I got my first phone, which is a MotoRAZR around august.
and buying an another phone is somehow pointless, as well.
Plus, Im kinda worried about the bills and such.

The edge network is slow.

If you need the phone option then go with the iphone. If you do not need the phone option go with the touch. You can get everything on the touch that the iphone has besides the phone option.

I'm just considereing going for the iPhone because of its internet access.
I can be careless about me having no SMS and all of that.

But, if i just have a week using the iPhone's internet, i woulda judge it if its worthit or no

You can get everything on the touch that the iphone has besides the phone option.

No, but you can get that on a £40 phone, and save over £600.

Remember also that the bluetooth on the iPhone is extremely limited also - You can't transfer files or other information, and people have had problems pairing the set with some bluetooth headsets.

I would recomend the iPhone over the touch (only if you have AT&T already though). If I didnt have dumb old Verizon, I would definitely have an iPphone right now, but I decided the Touch is the nxt best thing.

interesting topic. Is edge just for at&t interent? If thats so slow then what about other carriers internet service(with a unlocked iphone) Are they all noticably slower then a decent wifi connection?

i have limited phone plan [family plan] with 600minutes, no text/SMS and data

But see my first post, i just had my 1st phone on august, and i may sound spoiled if i change my phone in less than a year.[i have to keep my RAZR for 2 years so i can get a new one after renewing the plan]
at the same time, i still like the internet access

EDGE network, is I believe..also works on T-Mobile [assuming you live in the US]
About the internet speeds, I'm still asking people on this thread if its fast or what.
becuase if its slow, i'll just get a touch.

well the iphone needs unlimted data plan unless you want your parents to bleed money for every megabyte you use
also edge network is really slow can sometimes be dailup loading times for pages

That would seem pretty bad considering most wifi networks are going to be at least 1mb/s


I too have thought about getting a iphone instead so I could have the possiblty of having Internet anywhere, but I get bad motion sickness looking at things in the car so wouldn't need it while driving. Around here where there's businesses I pick up at least 4-5 networks and 1-2 are unsecure.

Anyway I hope that helps you choose whatever you decide to do.

Hmmm... I dont think it would be nearly that expensive, because you can get an ok router for under 100 bucks and it doesmt need to be very good if its right next to you all the time. I will make another topic for it. Once I get on my regular computer.

The main point is, to get WiFi on your backpack
and that 700 buck router-kind device is maybe used to get signal somewhere.
im guessing those linksys and the kinds of common routers won't work.

i say get the iphone, because you have at&t. you can just pay your parents the extra $20 or so a month to add the visual voicemail and edge data features to your plan. then you would have a fully capable iphone and make all of your friends jealous. that's what i would do if i had at&t, but i have faggot ass verizon until the end of 2008, so i had to buy an ipod touch. i plan on persuading my dad to switch to at&t if that's the still the only provider of the iphone by then, and buying the latest greatest iphone if there is a revision by the end of 2008.

iPhone is 10 times better than the iPod Touch. If you have the money for an iPhone, go for it!
