Now, I know there is a solution to this problem but I wasn't aware of the lock it would create on our frail relationship. I mean, come on, who doesn't know their own combination?
So, uh, anyone care to help out a brother with a definitive solution? I'm not aware of one that doesn't require a working PC (hers is on the fritz).

Ummm..... maybe a forse reset?
1. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Slide it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
2. Press and hold the Menu and Center (Select) buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears, about 6 to 8 seconds. You may need to repeat this step.
idk if this will work but worth a shot

In the Mallee, northwestern Victoria.
On topic; if her PC was functioning then could she not just hook her Pod up to her PC, open iTunes then disconnect?

Yes, that should unlock it.
If not, enable disk use in itunes, navigate to your iPod's drive (assuming you're using windows) under My Computer and do a search for "locked" A result should come up as "_LOCKED". Rename it to _UNLOCKED and safe remove the iPod from the computer.
It should be unlocked.
