Now everywhere i see the poles are up : which will it be, the appstore or installer? Now i just thought, what exactly is appstore? Well appstore is an application that lets you download third party apps. Does that sound familiar? Thats basically the same thing as installer. So technically couldn't people download some stuff, take it out through SSH, repackage it and place it on installer? Then thats it, installer completely consumed appstore. Post your thoughts on this!

I read about something like this, but I think there will be protection and secondly, you will have to re-code them for installer, because it dosent use coco touch.

Why is Customize and Summerboard so popular? I think Theming the home screen is kinda... frivolous.

It is kind of cool though. Some of the themes are just interesting!

Theme makes your own iPod unique.
Everyone wants their iPod to be a little different from others right?
I would love 2.0 to have customize and smbprefs :P

that can't be done.
Apple's rule restrict application like customize from being made.
the only chance you see an app like customize on your ipod is if Apple release one.

Your iPod Touch cost money, you bought it.
Your computer cost money, you bought it.
Your Games cost money, you bought it.
Your Food cost money, you bought it.

I wouldn't put food in there... Food is a necessity. You can't live without that.

Haha, yer, but personally I'd really want to have both! Do you think its possible that Apple are hiding any secrets from us to unvail later this week? But if they won't have any customizing applications then if you have to chose, its Installer for me. Like others said, its a way of making your iPod unique, me and my friends love that, we turn up at school each with different themes! Useful when someone switches them, haha. But with the point of money, its true, who would want to pay money for something you could get for free? And if its a really really good application i'd be willing to pay a few pounds sterling!

Apps are going to be 99.9% limited to what they can do. They can't mess with any apps already on the iPod, they can't modify the iPod's UI (SummerBoard, Customize, Boot Screens, Icons). And don't forget the fact that they cost money, for low-grade apps that won't be as good as most jailbroken apps.
EITHER WAY, hackers will hack App Store in a matter of days/weeks, so don't worry, lol. Apple will lose in the end, still believing that App Store can't be hacked on jailbroken iPods :p

This is not an unfounded claim. its actually true. how many ipods or iphones have u seen that arent jailbroken? abt 70-80% must be jailbroken. as for me, i havent seen a single ipod unjailbroken. Where i live noone checks or cares.

So you've actually surveyed the entire world of people who own iPots/iPhones and at least 70% of those people have all jailbroken?
