It's either the iPod is stuck on the screen with the Apple logo and the USB or it says an unknown error has occurred. Can anyone help me out?

There is some problems with it still, people say Cydia is not correctly set up, because it isn't in a tar file.

When you get into that you need to type in: (while in the iRecovery folder)
Code:
iRecovery -s setenv boot-path /System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kernelcaches/kernelcache.s5l8720p fsboot go /exit |

You used saveenv? That's no good.
I do not know the default boot-path variable's value (and I'm currently finishing up a jailbreak so I'm not of much assistance right now) but I'll suggest going back into DFU mode and restoring the firmware again (follow the tutorial from the itunes restore of the firmware to the end). |
