Default Don't make an iPhone app with the word iPhone in because Apple will reject it

Apple rejects Macworld iPhone Superguide from App Store... for using the word 'iPhone' [Engadget]

Quote:
The iPhone App Store's arbitrary and inconsistent approval process continues to baffle and annoy on every level, as Macworld Editor-in-Chief Jason Snell just had his iPhone book rejected... for using the word "iPhone" in the title. Apparently Apple doesn't like app names or icons to include the word iPhone or images of the iPhone -- which arguably makes sense on some level -- but you'd think a freaking iPhone reference manual would warrant an exception, wouldn't you? Making matters worse, it appears that one Mr. David Pogue didn't have this problem, as his iPhone: The Missing Manual was approved with title and icon intact. Sigh. Phil Schiller -- deploy!

In case you're interested, you can't use the word "Apple" either (if you're referring to the company).

WTF is Apple trying to do? Sooner or later, growers of the red fruit with the same name are gonna be slapped with lawsuits stopping them from using the name...

Jesus Christ. This is WELL KNOWN! Apple even tell you NOT to use images of the iPhone, or the word "iPhone" in the SDK agreement that ALL developers MUST agree to when they sign up to make iPhone apps.

This is NOTHING more than a developer thinking they can exploit the knee jerk reaction by the republic to get more publicity for themselves and their apps.

Also, for the record, this extends to ANY copyright that you do not have the permission to use, not just for Apple IP.

EDIT: Yes I realize Jason Snell is en editor (the editor) of MacWorld. He is using his position and "fame" to strongarm his way into getting his app approved and receive free internet wide publicity. It's pathetic.

Also, it worked, and Apple has approved the app.
