The MPG 'fact' is also highly inaccurate. The sheer weight of that truck and the size of the engine will give you an MPG of approximately *f**k all*.
You are better off getting a car, mostly due to their safety regulations, which trucks don't require. They are cleaner, smaller, easier to drive, and can come in diesel form too!

Ok I talked to my dad about this (He's the R&D manager at an auto company and has PhD in automotive engineering)
Sulphur emissions are caused by the fuel, not the engine, but thats all history. Almost all Diesel fuel is low to no sulphur, meaning sulphur emissions are not an issue. Diesel engines have better milage, give better torque, are more durable and last longer. They are more expensive. Europe has much more diesel cars and a larger market for diesel cars than the US (60% to 5%). This is because the US Automakers, working with the oil companies, made terrible diesel engines that where load, dirty and expensive. This gave the Public the impression that Diesel sucked and now no one buys diesel cars, even if they are better.
