I don't understand that either, since I sync my ipod touch between four individual libraries, and never have had to wipe it...

I have synced to multiple libraries, I have about 8 on my current computer, and sync to them, and don't lose anything. Does that mean my iPod is broken, I've always done this...

i think what you all are doing is manually managing music yes? if so, then you can add songs from wherever... your iPods are fine

You will not need to do any extra work. iTunes 9 is included with any new Mac computer bought from Apple, and will work with any iPod or iPhone, jailbroken or not.
