Upgrade to 3.0 ?

Hey guys..

I have an iPod Touch 2g.. i have the the 2.2.1
I am wondering if i either can jailbreak it or upgrade it to 3.0 ? i don't want 3.1

lol, 3.1 > 3.0, atleast iphone wise, not sure about the ipt
my iphones battery lasts a LOT longer with 3.1..
Get 3.1, its worth it, a lot of new stuff compared to 2.x!!!
And if your ipod is still on warranty, you can get the 3.0 update for free, just go to the apple store, say somethings wrong with your ipods battery, that it lasts an hour, and they will update it for free, or give u a new ipod, totally legit way of getting it free, and possible a new ipod lol

good point, you'll need to use pwnage tools to create a custom firmware for your ipod touch 2g for it to be jailbroken. Though, pwnage tools is only for mac computers, so that may be a bit of an issue. Blacksn0w does support a windows jailbreak for the 2g ipod touch, but its tethered, meaning every time you reboot your ipod you will have to rerun blacksn0w to boot the ipod up to normal.

Aint there any way i can just upgrade it to 3.0 ? instead of 3.1 ? a friend told me that 3.0 could be jailbroken

Legally, no. You have to pay for 3.0 if you have an ipod touch.

Actually, it's impossible to get the 3.0 firmware legally... If you buy it from iTunes, you'll get the newest one, which is 3.1.2

Correcting your info.

Blackra1n can jailbreak the iPod touch 2g on 3.1.x.
It is not tethered.
It is on Windows and Mac.
