Thumbs down iPod Touch 2G White Screen Problem

Hi,

I have an iPod Touch 2G, running 3.1.2 and I think there's a problem with the screen. I got it out of my pocket today, and the screen was completely white. It was jailbroken, but when I got home I tried to restore it, so it's not jailbroken anymore.

Suffice to say, I don't think it's the "white screen of death" I think there may be a problem with the screen. I can press the power button at the top of the iPod and the screen turns completely white, but when I press it again, it turns black. Just like when you press the power button to lock/unlock the iPod.

I read somewhere about a ribbon being removed? I can't recall it exactly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

And yes, my iPod is out of warrenty.

Try the link in my signature. The white screen is the same as connect to iTunes screen.

try dfu mode. i had a seemingly broken ipod with verbose boot on, and i still managed to get through to it through dfu. to do this just power off (reboot) while it's plugged in, then run the dfu instructions.
