[How to] How to speed up your installer refreshing!
How to video by D3fPo3t: http://youtube.com/watch?v=lwwGI6mrw98
Alfarin, aslo known as Andy Huang, a member of this very site, has made a way to limit the 10 minutes to refresh your sources down to about 20 seconds. This method is by using a web site that he has made which compiles a large amount of sources into one. You can select which packages you would like to be in your installer, then add your personalized source to installer. You can sign up at the site here: http://repo.sc
Here is the information straight from his site:

What is repo.sc?
As we all know, when you add too many sources to installer, your installer takes forever to update sources, and start up. It can be a very annoying wait if you are just heading in to install one or two apps. In a nutshell, repo.sc is a new and innovative service, created to help you speed up installer.
How Does repo.sc Help?
The solution is simple! If too many sources causes it to slow down, we'll reduce the number of sources you must load! You customize what packages you want to keep, and repo.sc generates a personalized installer source for you! Because repo.sc also checks for package updates on a regular basis, your personalized repository from repo.sc will also notify you that new software are available! Once you've selectd your personalized list of packages that you would like us to monitor, and add the personalized repo to your installer, you can remove all other sources from your installer, and never worry about them again!
Lesser sources to load, faster load time, and stay up to date with all the apps that you are interested in; now doesn't that sound like music to your ears?
There HAVE TO be Some Trade Off, Right?
Yes, unfortunately, there are... but it is not a major one.
As you know, there are fun repositories that keeps track of ROMs for you. Legality issues aside, if you are using only your personalized repo from repo.sc, you won't be able to get the newest ROMs delivered to your installer as soon as they become available. But instead, you must take a few minute of your time, come here, update your personalized repository to include that ROM, and then access it on installer... If you ask me, though, the few minutes of updating your personalized repository beats waiting for 10 minutes or more for installer to start!
So what are you waiting for? Create your own personal repository now!

Okay, I'm probably suppose to write some formal press release for this... but you know what? Whatever. I'm not cool enough to write one of them fancy things up, so here's just a personal note from me to everyone
As of 02:26 AM, Feburary 2nd, 2008, GMT -08:00, Repo Source ( http://repo.sc ) is live in Open Beta 1!
What does Open Beta 1 mean?
Open Beta 1 means, yes, as the name implies, we're now open... And it also means we're still in early development stages of this project... in fact, it is the first beta we're having for it. So, expect bugs, lots of bugs. While I did try everything in my power to ensure there's no serious show stopping bugs, I can't guarentee you that your stay here will be the most pleasant one... But hey, I could be wrong
So, try it out, and report any problems you encounter to me, and I look forward to giving you more features in the week to come!
