[RELEASE] mPlayer ported to Firmware 2.x

In total commander I only have private/var/mobile/media

I copied over an episode of south park but nothing is showing up in the mplayer list. It's in .avi format.

Ok, I created the folder and transferred over the south park episode. I get some weird stuff happening when I play this video. For example when I touch the screen once the video scrolls from the top of the screen to the bottom in a loop. This is in addition to the fact that the audio and video are not in sync. It is still great that progress is being made so that we can transfer and play videos without having to convert them. Until then we'll have to wait some more.

I'd like to use mplayer to play a vdr http stream like:

mplayer http://192.168.11.12:3000/TS/23

The stream is mpeg-ts.

Is this possible, if so, how do I do this?

I tried creating a playlist but it didn't even show up in mplayer on the ipod touch.

PS:I'm currently using the 1.x.x Firmware so apologies if this is the wrong thread. The question if this is possible is valid though, since I would upgrade to 2.x.x if that was possible. Thanks for your answers.

put your media files to /private/var/media and go

remember to change file permission to 755

I wonder whether I can play *.mov files without converting. I tried to play *.mov files in mplayer, but it can't. Is any idea to play *.mov files? I tried to convert *.mov files to *.mp4 via "Any Video Converter", then sync with ipod, but I can hear only voice, not video.

some 2.1 users reported mplayer doesn't work , and it's only tested on 2.02.

I tried Mplayer on 2.1, it works :-)

But i also discovered a bug when opening a quicktime movie on a webpage.
Mplayer shows the buttons Download and Play Movie.
Download doens't work, play movie starts with loading but said the format cannot be played.

I downloaded that exact movie file to my computer and put it on the iPhone.
Then Mplayer does play it! (without sounds b.t.w).

Is rtsp:// not supported yet?

hey skiman you should talk to zod and work with him he is wanting to drop his vlc project maybe you and him can work together or get ideas on yours so far it's good can't wait for the updates to make it faster
