The new iPods cannot be mounted as disks. The closest you could get is iPhone Browser, or use SSH

Is it possible to gain root access through USB (or wifi) and view the folders with windows explorer?

You just want to use your iPod Touch as a storage device right? Then use DiskAid for OS X & Windows to drag & drop files in. And if you want to open some of those files (Music, movies, text, etc) use Discover.
Both are Free. |
