Configure Quasi Low-Jack for iPod touch or iPhone
UNFORTUNATELY, this tool does not work for everyone due to location and the network to which you are connected. I'm sorry, but it isn't perfect. A GPS would be great... *This works on the iPod Touch. I've gotten mixed reports on firmware compatibility. I can confirm 1.1.2 works. **If you have no idea what this is, here is the description found in Installer: Quote:
Prerequisites: Jailbroken iPhone/iPod touch BSD Subsystem SSH capability Twitter account _____________________ 1. Add Shai's source in Installer <ride4.org/shai.xml> 2. After refreshing, navigate (in Installer) to Utilities, where you will find Quasi Low-Jack. Install it. 3. Read the pop-up notices on the screen during the installation process. (a.) *It says to restart your device. I cannot confirm whether this means to restart after installation or after configuration. I have restarted once after installation and it has worked. (Post your findings) 4. SSH into device. Navigate to /bin/tweet. Edit it. It should read this: Code:
/bin/pingwifi; sleep 10 #! /bin/sh curl --basic --user Username:Password \ --data status="`/bin/findme`" http://twitter.com/statuses/update.xml 5. Save. 6. Login to your twitter account, and you should see your latest update. Click the link to Google Maps where it will pull up your geographic coordinates. (The URL is http://twitter.com/home) CUSTOMIZATION: The default update is every 30 seconds. You can change that by editing the com.sadun.tweet.plist in /System/Library/LaunchDaemons. ****This only works when device is turned ON. *IF YOU ARE HAVING PROBLEMS... Quote:

It works like a charm on the iPod touch. My latitude/longitude coordinates are accurate within just over 100 feet.

Wifi signal. For the the iPhone, I don't believe their is any incorporation of cell tower triangulation.

It's not working for me though, I did input my twitter account info and did reboot my touch. 16gb 1.1.2. Yes, I have BSD installed. When I run tweet, it says /bin/tweet: line 3: curl: command not found EDIT: I have Cydia pkgmgr installed, install cURL extension from Cydia. Works now. Thanks! EDIT 2: It wasn't too accurate for me, about 50 miles away from my actual location. I'm guessing it's from the wifi locator trying to figure out your location and that I didn't have the best networks. No worries, cool app nonetheless.
